Without A Hitch

Would you like a recap of last night? Of course you would.

It was a perfectly wonderful night, for no other reason than I got to spend uninterrupted time with Honey.

Dinner was great. I love to cook, but eating out is always good. I’d almost be just as happy if we had eaten at McDonalds. But not quite. The only thing at McRaunch that doesn’t give me gut rot is their salads, sans meat. I wanted something a little tastier than that if I was eating out. We hit Milestones for some tasty goodness and I don’t have a single complaint.

There aren’t any pictures of us on our date night because I needed to have my hands free for ALL OF THE SHOPPING! I found two more pairs of pants at Jacob and spent the rest of my gift certificates. I also had birthday money burning a hole in my pocket and got some great tank tops and t-shirts at another store. I usually have a bad habit of buying say, a shirt, that doesn’t go with anything else in my wardrobe. Not last night. I was the coordinating queen. Not only that, I added some pink and blue to my normal clothing repertoire of brown, black and white.

Shopping with Matthew is always a treat. He loves it when I try on clothes for him. I love it that he tells me constantly how hot he thinks I am. I also love that he has no problem telling me that something I tried on is not quite right. There was one shirt that we both loved, except that the only sizes left were extra small and large. While I own my fair share of extra small shirts, they have been sidelined for the moment thanks to my nursing chest size. My ladies are anything but extra small right now. Not to worry, I know from past experience that they will shrivel up to nothing once Emily is weaned. Sigh.

Matthew also scored some great deals, and we left the mall feeling accomplished. As soon as we got back into the truck, however, I started worrying about Emily. Was she OK? Was she crying inconsolably because we had left her? Did the boys decide to hang up their halos for pitchforks? Would our babysitter vow to never watch our kids again?

We drove in about 9:30 and could see the babysitter sitting on the couch. Alone. That was a good sign, right? I opened the door to see her standing there ready to greet us. I tentatively asked, “How did it go?”

It went FINE.

Emily was happy the whole time. She went down for her third nap and then down for the night without a peep. The boys were also little sweethearts. She asked me how I make such great kids. Aw, shucks. I didn’t have the heart to tell her it’s mostly due to all of the nagging that I do. That, and the taser gun I keep on my belt.

I’ll leave you with some pictures of my munchkins. Here are the boys eating cookie dough. I’m all about the health food, you know.

And here’s Miss Emily in her newest “station”. Excuse the poor lighting. If I try to use no flash, it’s all a big blur because she’s on the move.

She mostly twirls around, but it’s only day 2. She did a few tiny bounces this morning. Before we know it she’ll be our little jumping bean.

Since yesterday was such a banner day, we thought we’d try something momentous today. Emily is getting too big for the cradle that she sleeps in, so it’s time to move her into the crib. Which means it’s time to move Nathan out of the crib and into a bed. Wish us luck. I hope tonight goes well. If not, there’s always caffeine.
