With Extra Cheese

Mondays are busy. BUSY. BIZZAY.

Graham has school on alternating Mondays. After school he and Nathan have back-to-back swim lessons. When those are complete, Honey brings all three kidlets home to a meal that I have prepared in advance (he just has to cook it), and I do 1.25 hours of step boot camp. I arrive home at the bathtime/meltdown hour which is all sorts of awesome.

Throw in some work deadlines I have, and the fact that Old Man Winter is HANGING ON FOR DEAR LIFE, and my camera has been feeling neglected. She is pouting in the corner.

Tuesdays are always a school day for G. I am leaving the other two with Daddy for a couple of hours so that I can see a hairdresser to clean up and colour the frizzy mop that I have on my head. So again, no photo opportunities. I could take a photo of my hair brushed out and huge, but I’ll spare you the fright of your life.

I am also feeling a little achy and oh-no-I’m-getting-sick like. I hope it’s a false alarm. Because if not? My camera is going to leave me for someone who shows her more attention. Hussy.

But the kids! They made me take a few photos!

Graham and Emily have a relationship that warms my heart. He takes such great care of her, and she waddles behind him like a little duckling. Nathan and Emily have a relationship that follows a variation of the 80/20 rule. Eighty percent of the time they show love and affection to each other. The other twenty percent of the time?

NOT SO MUCH.

Yesterday morning they crawled up onto a chair and were cuddling. Nathan yelled at called out to me, “Mommy! Take a picture of us!”

That cloth is the one I had just used to wash her hands after breakfast. She LOVES to suck the water out of it. Totally sick, in my opinion, but if I take it away, she screams.

The Two Babies

I pick my battles carefully.

The both spontaneously started saying, “cheese”.

Cheese

Emily decided to take her “cheese” up a notch.

Cheesy!

Now with the sideways glance.

Sideways cheese

Then it was time for a cuddle and a rest. And more cloth-sucking. EW.

Cuddling

After that little rest, Miss Emily decided to throw out the Super Cheese.

Super cheese!

I’d lock my jaw if I tried that manoeuvre.

I walked away to put my camera down. If I remember correctly, he swiped her cloth and she pinched him.

That’s how they roll.

Oh I love them :)
And I, too, remember sucking on a cloth when I was younger. Boy, that is pretty gross, isn’t it? My mom picked her battles, too :)

You should post pictures of the new hair! I’ll bet you look sexaaay. And I hope you’re not coming down with anything. Just think: Summer, Summer, Hot Tub, Summer

That is just too adorable! :)

I also remember sucking on cloths when I was a kid. I don’t think they had ever been used to wipe my hands or anything else before I was sucking on them, though. I was quite the Miss Priss as a little girl, and hated anything dirt related.

I hadn’t been around here in a while! Good to see that you’re still posting those beautiful pictures.

You had me laughing with the “threw out the supercheese” line. That one was just too good. I will have to steal it! :-)

Does the alternating school day thing bug you at all? I know it would drive me crazy. I would constantly be forgetting which day it was. I’m a routine girl :)

hahahaha

That sounds like my and Nick’s (my brother who is 18 months younger than I) relationship. Except opposite. 80 percent of the time we faught, and 20 percent of the time we got along!

I’m loving the cheese.

Ah, the start of the real cheesy smiles!! She’s good at them!! Now she has mastered it, you might have a problem capturing “real” smiles … try getting your kids to say “monkeys” instead of “cheese”, that’s what we do and you get a more natural smile out of them. But of course it’s good to snap some of those real cheesy smiles every so often because they are SO cute!!

What an amazing grin!! I remember sucking on cloths too, but I did it with the one in the bathtub… eww. My mom definitely picked that as one of her battles, but I’m glad you’re letting your kid enjoy herself.

Awww. CUTE kids you have there, not that you didn’t already know that!

Guess what?

I figured out how to change the ISO setting to get clear pictures! Score one for me and your foto friday tutorial about 8 months ago. A fast learner I am not;-)

Adorable…truly! What an honest interaction. Maybe Emily can teach Chloe how to do the cheese smile, I just can’t get her to smile for the camera…a million faces, but no legit smile. That would be a great series to frame!
