While You Were Editing

Hello, my sweet feed-readers.

I had slapped up a post in haste last night, but was not excited about it. After getting ready for bed I sent it back to draft form and hoped it had not hit anyone’s feed yet. It had. I got a few emails this morning asking what happened, so here’s the short story before I post the photos I was planning to.

Last night I was sitting here editing photos and tweaking my site (Woo! Hot Friday night!) (Thanks to witchypoo for her coding genius – check out my menu bars).

I saw a new incoming link! I went to see who linked to me! Does this sound familiar?

It was some dude hotlinking the nasty photo of me from this post (pre-watermarking) to illustrate the ugliness of the eighties. Nice.

This is the photo I replaced it with.

After I “Fixed” It-

My original post had the screen shots, but I opted to leave them out for a number of reasons.

As fun as it is to switch it up on people, HOTLINKING IS BAD. Watermark your photos.

Please?

Onwards!

Yesterday was a milder day. Not spring, by any means, but it was above freezing. The sun was brightly shining. You could hear the drip, drip, drip of melting snow. I would not even hesitate to call it a beautiful day.

I am trying to be more positive about winter. It helps that I am going to MEXICO soon. That makes this blasted season more bearable.

After Emily’s nap, Honey suggested that we all head outside for some fresh air. Swinging on the swings and playing in the sandbox are still not feasible activities so we opted to just walk around the yard.

Daddy and his girl

Daddy and his girl. I never tire of watching the two of them.

Daddy and his girl

Does she not look adorable walking in her Big Girl Boots?

Looking down at the road

Here is everyone looking down at road. And throwing snow at passing cars. We’re good neighbours like that.

Throwing snow

We live on a bench…half way up a…hill? Mountain? I’m not sure. We are definitely not in the prairies, that is for sure.

The dudes had fun running down our driveway.

Running down the driveway

I use the term “driveway” loosely. It is more like a country road.

Dudes

That is one of the rare moments that Nathan stood still. The guy RUNS everywhere. Sometimes into traffic. It’s awesome.

Dudes

See? Running.

The wind picked up so we headed back to the house. I snapped a shot of Honey’s work shop. He asked me to tell you to tell your husbands that it has 220 power.

Work shop

That’s the chicken coop to the right. Yes, we have chickens.

One last shot of Daddy and his girl.

Daddy and his girl

Sigh.

Have a great weekend everyone! Are you doing anything interesting?

  5. I was showing Noah the picture of you in grade nine baby, and the was like “woah … uhhh” … and then showed him the one you replaced it with. He said, “I wouldn’t kick her out of bed” which is to say that he thinks you look a lot better now. He’s kind of a dork in his lingo.

I have a reader and didn’t get the last post … maybe becasue I didn’t open it until after you unpublished it? Not sure. That’s the scary thing about readers – if you make a mistake, you can’t change it! Not like I’ve ever done that …

  12. I had intended on watermarking all my pictures this weekend, but since I’m sick, that’s going to have to wait until later. I’m having a hard time concentrating on anything longer than a few minutes.

So, I’m spending my weekend alternating between the bed and the couch, and resting as much as possible. I’ll probably watch some movies and enjoy the rest.

I laughed when I read the part about the workshop, then I told my hubby what I was laughing at, he is jealous. I told him one day he would have one too.

I’ve been accused of being (more than) a little paranoid more than once in my life so you can take my concern with a grain of salt. I’m not sure you should put your last name on your photos. You’re pretty easy to find out about online (ever google your own name?) and I’d hate to see some whacko know too much about you. I don’t think I knew what your last name was prior to your watermarking. As far as professionals stealing your photos…if they really want them, they’ll get them. This was the response I got from my hubby when I brought up the subject of having him watermark his. He says anyone who knows photoshop can get rid of them. My last paranoid warning is to not tell us when you go on vacation:). Maybe living in fear mongering America has gotten to me.

  30. I went to the thief’s site, and all of the photos on that post were hotlinked. All of them. There was one comment on the site that said hotlinking was bad form. And it said Tsk.

  31. Go back to the thief’s site and you will see that he has removed most of the hotlinked images, plus the comment that chastised him for hotlinking. There are still a few hotlinked images, but I would love to see what the others changed their original images to.

I’ve been thinking about watermarking my photo’s, but I haven’t yet, partially because I am a bit lazy, and partially because I’m kind of thinking to myself, self, your photo’s are not that great, who would want to steal not that great photos. Am I too naive?
