Yesterday afternoon I was making Christmas cards (Again. Still.) when the phone rang.
It was my good friend Amanda, wondering if I would like to join her in a jaunt to K-Town to do some Christmas shopping. Matthew and I are going again tonight, but who am I to say no to a friend in need (of a shopping companion)?
I jumped in the 4Runner, picked up my buddy, and we were off.
On the drive there we talked about what presents we hoped to find for the people left on our list. Then Amanda said, “I also wouldn’t mind going to MAC to get some makeup tips and buying some eyeshadow, etcetera.”
Her and I have been talking about our lack of makeup knowledge and skillz ever since that post I did a few weeks ago where you all gave me some sweet makeup advice. I had yet to do anything about it. Time to get serious.
We stopped for a quick round of tapas and bellinis and then we skipped off to MAC.
The girl who helped us was quirky, but not sales-y. She studied each of us closely and asked us some questions about our preferred shades and such before she picked the colours she thought would best suit our particular faces. When she was finished she gave us a great paint-by-numbers chart in an attempt to help us remember what she did.
Both Amanda and I were pleased with the results. As you can see, I take my makeup very seriously.
Amanda? Looking hot, per usual.
I was looking OK.
I was actually a little giddy about the whole thing. Matthew was impressed as well. I took a few close-ups when I got home in the hopes that I can recreate what she did for tonight.
I also took my standard kissy face.
So? Did I do good by you, my sweet make-up goddess Internets?

I didn’t give you a tip (as I have no idea what I’m talking about and only own mascara) but you look fab!

You both look great!!
I love MAC! Their studio concealer is the best make-up creation ever.

Yeah, I look like a goofy narf in my close-up pic, now that I see it enlarged. Owell. I tried to recreate the look this morning too and it turned out decently (methinks?).
Thanks for the fun trip.

What are you talking about???
You look HAWT.
[Reply]
Ok, so int that last shot you remind me of Amy Brennerman. Which translates into: HAWT.
I’ll have you know I have been using that phrase all the freak over. I totally blame you. (In a good way, of course.)

Sounds like fun and you both look great but frankly you both look great with whatever you were doing before too (au naturale?)
I wonder if vomit lava germs travel through computers…..it hit our house big time yesterday. At least theres a couple of weeks to get it over with before Christmas.

Brian and I were at the Kelowna mall last night, too! We finished shopping for the kids so I feel a bit more prepared now. I am the kind of person that usually starts my shopping in September so this year I feel a little bit behind. Looks like you had fun!

I missed giving out tips too, but um…I don’t really have any other than – HEY! Wash your face at night – it seems to help.
Not really a good makeup tip.
Looks loverly sweets!

sounds like a fun time

Looks like tons o fun with your gal!! nothing better!
I would love to see you in some soft pink tones. I dig the browns, etc, but as you said, you want to try something different. I think the subtle pink tones would bring out your baby blues. (softer pale tones with the shadows, and some pinkish cheeks? gloss?)
Just a thought.

You look gorgeous! But then you ALWAYS do, my friend!
[Reply]
You are both incredibly GOH-just!
I’ve been a big lover of Clinique, but lately their stuff just isn’t doing it for me anymore. Maybe it’s time for some change.

Wow. Just getting back to blogland post baby and you guys look great! And your recent posts were all wonderful to read. Hope you continue to enjoy the holiday season, and figuring out how to make blogland a very happy place for you to spend the time you have for it.

You look gorgeous, per usual. But that last picture is one of the best I’ve seen of you. And, yes, Amanda is looking hot, too.
