Up And Down And All Around

This past week has been a difficult one for me, emotionally.  One minute I am waxing poetic over the loss of a good friend, and the next I am dancing around with giddiness (and posting facts about myself) all to do with BlogHer.

If I was also dealing with PMS this week?  IT WOULD NOT BE PRETTY.

I haven’t been able to grasp onto the emotions that are swirling through my head and funnel them into cohesive words.  Every time I start thinking about what to write it all seems so…indescribable.  I feel, however, that if I don’t just sit and write what is bouncing around in my head that I may just never write again.  This site would either turn into a wasteland of ghost words, or would be obliterated by yours truly.

So here I am.

This week has been filled with work, yes, but also mornings at the lake/beach/water park (Three in one!). The kids have had a blast, as have I.  I bring my camera every time, but I am too busy chatting with my friends or, you know, MAKING SURE MY KIDS DON’T DROWN.

Yesterday morning we arrived at the park about ten minutes before the water was turned on.  The kids dug into the bucket of sand toys and got down and dirty.

Miss Emily

A few minutes later, Graham called me over because he had a surprise for me.

Heart

He told me that he had made me a heart because, “I very much love you”.  I am also apparently, “The greatest Mom in the whole wide world”.

DUDE.  YOU’RE KILLING ME.

This morning we mixed things up and ran a bunch of errands.  On our way home we stopped at Christy’s to say a final good-bye before they leave tomorrow.  The visit was mercifully short as they had to go and pick up their moving truck.

As I was buckling the kids into their seats for the drive home, my cell phone rang.  It was Matthew.  Upon hearing my voice he got all concerned and asked if I was OK.  I told him that we had just bid adieu to the Heighs.  He was still worried.  “Yeah, but is something WRONG?”

THEY ARE MOVING A PROVINCE AWAY. It is so, so wrong.

I did a perfect rendition of The Ugly Cry for the drive home but managed to pull myself together for the rest of the day.  I even whipped out my camera to catch these two holding hands.

Holding Hands

They do it often, and my heart smiles every time.

That is all I have in me today.  I promise to be back next time with a post of substance.  That is unless I succumb to the stomach bug that my brother has right now, and start emptying the contents of my stomach into the porcelain throne.  That would be fun.

How are you doing?

    Hi,

Don’t think I have ever come to your web site and seen no comments! So I just had to say hello and hope you have a great sunny weekend.

  2. The up/down emotions thing can be SO hard. Hang in there. I hope your weekend is wonderful, and that you don’t get sick!

Since you asked, I am TIRED. Tyler didn’t really sleep last night thanks to the chickenpox, so neither did Rob and I. Hoping for a better night tonight!

I really feel you on the losing your bestest friends eva….Ours moved back to Ontario, about a year and a half ago, to be closer to family etc., after being out west 8 years. We were supposed to have our first children together, now she is pregnant, we are trying and my heart truly aches for her…I feel as though I compare every other friend/potential to her etc, silly I know. I hope one day we will live in the same town again, but until then I cherish phone calls, FB etc..and pictures! Still sometimes it is hard to let yourself get close, but it is worth it…even if sometimes really hard, and gross feeling. Thanks for the bday wishes, and good karma being sent your way….M

  5. I love that photo of the boys – those are moments that will forever be burned into your brain. You know they’ll be buddies, even if they bicker – for life.

Your posts on the Heigh’s moving have left this pregnant girl tearier than normal. Praying for ya’ll that the sadness eases quickly and that they visit back LOTS!

  7. I’ve been on that emotional up and down this week too. It’s tough, and I can definitely sympathize with how you’re feeling.

Right now I’m pretty exhausted. I just fell asleep on my couch for the last hour – whoops! I’m looking forward to a hopefully very restful and relaxing weekend.

    Hope yours is great!

  8. Your kids holding hands? Priceless.

I’m doing ok. Still a little freaked out that it’s going be cold in SF. I’m in hot hot hot Texas and do not know what it means to be cold in July.

That heart is adorable! Isn’t it nice when you have your camera for things like that? (To show him when he’s a teenager and your driving him nuts, that he really does love his mommy!) So thoughtful! Love the other pictures too! Hoping that this next week is full of all ups and no downs!

  15. Yesterday was a great day for me…Bud Dude got to play with some neighborhood kids, Hubby came home for the weekend, and I didn’t have to work. Kind of the exact opposite day than what you had huh?

Sorry to hear about your friends. Praying they reach their destination safely. And also, that you miss out on the stomach bug. Yech.

  16. With my hubby being in the military it was often very hard to say goodbye to those moving far away, or when it was me. It never gets easier. But I have found that those you are closest too, no matter how long time passes you always can pick right back up where you left off. (((hugs)))

  18. Me? I am getting my Dutch Blitz fix! I have 14 posts to go! You’d think I could just hit “mark all as read”, but no, I’m going to read (and maybe comment) on every single one. Apparently I like your blog you.

I’m also feeling guilty – because I just did this to my friends, except I moved TWO provinces away. We movers can be mean like that.
