Two Whole Days

We are going to the cabin tomorrow. We meaning Matthew and I. Without the kiddies. His parents are coming to stay with them and we will be gone for two nights. TWO NIGHTS!

Matthew has been away for two nights, and I have been away for two nights, but together we have only been away for one night. And we’ve only done that twice…in almost four years. Sad, I know, but Matthew’s parents are busy and mine live many hours away. Our friends have small children of their own so we don’t want to overburden anyone. With Baby D arriving so soon, we thought we’d better run for the hills while we still could.

We leave midday tomorrow and return midday Sunday. Karen and Travis are leaving their kiddies with Omi and Opie and joining us for the Saturday night. Before we all started having kids, we would sometimes have them stay over to save them the drive home and to further enjoy their company. The last time we did that was, well, about four years ago.

The guys are going to fish, and Karen and I are bringing our Stamping stuff. I’ve also saved my monthly magazine subscriptions for this event, and stocked up on a couple more. I’ll rent a couple of movies to boot. We will eat steak and chicken, among other great food (chips! s’mores! beer! (sigh – not for me)), and just recharge. Naps as far as the eye can see.

I have my weekly check-up this morning, and unless she says it’s not a good idea (no reason for that to happen) I will be getting us organized to leave and the boys organized for Grandma and Grandpa. We planned this trip a month ago and I am besides myself with excitement now that it’s almost time to leave. Time alone with Honey, and time spent with two great friends. What more could a girl ask for?

I will miss the boys immensely, this I know. Not enough to stay, but enough to phone and check in on them more than I will probably need to. Or maybe I’ll be so relaxed that I’ll just trust that they are fine. They will be more than fine. They love their grandparents, and G&G are staying here, so they boys will be in their own beds, etc. They will have a fantastic time.

And so will we.

YAY! I am sure you will enjoy taking this time away while you still can. We have left our boys with G&G for as many as 4 nights (not planned to be that long, but our transmission died!)…and it took me 2 days to really relax. I hope your time is SO restful, and how fun to have a friend join you!

That sounds so awesome. You guys will have such a great time, it sounds like you have all the best fun things planned for a trip without children. Relax and have a great couple of days!

  9. You WILL have a fantastic time. I’m so jealous. Rob and I are itching to get away for a few nights. First we have to get the baby weaned. Ian is spending Thanksgiving weekend with my parents so we can get Jayden off the night feedings (there will be much screaming I’m sure), and once that is done we plan on having Jayden weaned before he’s one so we can get away for a weekend ASAP.
