Trying To Live Up To My Title
Date: Thursday February 7, 2008Posted in: Emily, Family, Parenting, domestic bliss
First of all, the “daily moment” I want to share.
This girl of mine loves books. As I did at her age, according to my Mom. I also could read (Sentences, Paragraphs and Newspapers, oh my!) by two and a half. I think she may be well on her way to the same acclaim.
Yes, the book is upside-down. I am going to choose to believe that she is reading it to me, mmkay?
It was another boring day in my household. Graham had Kindergarten all day. Matthew had a meeting for the bulk of the morning, so Nathan and Emily helped me make some Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies.
Did you know that I had a recipe blog? No? Well you do now.
It is somewhat neglected, but it has the favourite recipes of Karen and I from the past two years.
I had gotten into a boring rut of meals (and life) until the past week. I ordered a Polestar calendar (THE BEST) and also picked up a Real Simple magazine. It is my new favourite read. The organization tips! And articles! And recipes!
They truly are real simple.
The recipe I tried tonight was the Salt and Pepper Shrimp With Thai Fried Rice.
It was UNBELIEVABLE.
Just another day of trying to live up to my Domestic Goddess role.
Yo.

Did you know that licking the screen doesn’t lead to tasting the food in the picture? Apparently all you taste is dust and Windex. Oh, you knew that? Oh…well hey, maybe you can make a Windex-Dust casserole next time and then I won’t feel let down.
Word up, Domestic Goddess—you’ve totally earned that title. I didn’t know you had a recipe blog. Is there anything you can’t do? Matthew was right about that Midas Touch that you have.
And I think you should always end your posts with “Yo” because that’s awesome. Then I’ll refer to you as Domestic G.

Isn’t it funny how when you went from 1 to 2, it was so crazy. But now that it’s back down to 2 for part time, you’re like wow…this is so EASY!

Gorgeous picture of your daughter. Wow. I’m a newbie photographer with some good hand-me-down equipment. I think I’ll have to start studying your photo posts for tips.
Was that shot with natural light? Problem here in Vancouver is the total lack of blue skies or sunlight for most of the winter. Can’t get any natural light to save my life.
Thanks for the inspiration and the yummy recipes none-the-less.

Mar’s last blog post..Day 3 - Snack
Comment by Mar on February 8th, 2008 @ 6:25 amSounds like we’ve got a lot of the same going on according to this post. Lauren LOVES books even more than Megan did at this age (we have to get these two together). Real Simple is one of my faves…and I buy my polstar months in advance (I think I’m on year 4) which by the way can be found at Costco for a fraction of the price late August/Early September…I should put you in mine:)
Vicki’s last blog post..As The Stomach Turns…
Comment by Vicki on February 8th, 2008 @ 7:14 amWE have tried new things overe here after getting into the food rut. My new favorite is basmati rice. Unfortunaely, the rest of our troop love meat and Im not a fan, so it is hard to get meals that everyone likes. May take a look at the foodie blog.

We had a good one too, last night (from my aunt) but I didn’t take a picture! Gotta get back onto that blog.
