I have a stat counter on my site, as do most bloggers I know. While the number of people reading my site is interesting in and of itself (and Thursdays have the highest numbers for some reason), there are other stats that I get a kick out of.
One of those would be the Google searches that people did in order to end up at my site. Some of my favourites:
Dutch Blitz
(Poor folks came looking for a card game, and instead got to read the ramblings of a crazy mother of three kids)
Pregnancy and waterslides
(Wheeeee!)
Nurse Heidi
(I don’t think they were looking for an RN)
Angella
(What ?!? I’m not the only Angella with 2 L’s?)
Reasons why being Dutch is cool
(It is. We are.)
Long booger pull brain
(I didn’t make this one up)
Big hot boobs spraying milk
(This was one yesterday. Sadly, it is the story of my life right now)
It has also come to my attention that some people who I have never met, either online or in person, link to me. They have yet to leave me a comment, so maybe they think I’m cool…but not that cool. I’m not sure. Or maybe they’ve read my hormonal ranting pregnancy posts and just come back out of morbid fascination. God only knows.
The counter also shows that there are a plethora (I love that word!) of people who come back time and time again, but do not come by way of a referring link. Which means I’m set as one of their “Favourites.” Aw, shucks. Yet they don’t comment either.
You all know that I’m participating in the blog posting extravaganza called NaBloPoMo (say THAT three times fast). One of the suggestions is that if you aren’t participating, you should de-lurk and leave a comment. Come on, I dare you. I double dog dare you.
If that doesn’t work, how about a sympathy comment? I have a one-month-old, and I’m in a sleep deficit. And don’t forget about the spraying milk. It’s awful, really. Say “hi” and make my day.
You regulars can say “hi” to, because you KNOW I love you. And to all who comment, I’ll be sure to return the favour. I need me some new reading material anyway, what with all of the “free” time I have. Ha!

Hi! You are cool. And have always left nice replys on my blog, so i try to do the same.

Hi
I am one of those lurkers that reads your site daily. Originally I “found” you because I stumbled across your friend Amanda’s site (which I also read daily) one day and followed her link to you.
Sunny greetings from the Californian Desert

I’m definitely one of your most dedicated readers.
Aren’t statcounters fascinating?

Hi!
[Reply]
yep got to love the statcounters, they are full of great info.

Is it mighty strange to see how people find blogs, hey? I have run into some problems with a movie titled “Kinky Boots” being released.
Oh, and HI!

Hi

I, too, lurk. BUT I HAVE left a comment, and I don’t feel overly lurky b/c I found you through my sister (Shareen). So it’s not TOTALLY random. I decided to take a gander at your site, and what can I say: I’m hooked. You’re definitely an entertaining writer!
[Reply]
hey there! i also read your blog all the time and i had found you thru your friend Amanda(kickyboots). by the way, you have the cutest kids that i’ve ever seen. i’ve linked my blog on here so if you’re ever bored, i hope you’ll read it. although it’s not quite as interesting as yours.

HI, I’m so bad at leaving comments, but ya see that plea about the one month old got me.
. Nah, I came through Jen and Amandas blog. There were the cool kids of the old youth group I attended. Love the blog!
[Reply]
Well, I’m no stranger or lurker that doesn’t comment, but I’m still saying Hi. So Hi!
[Reply]
I read ALOT of blogs and never comment is that bad manners? I found your through Amanda’s blog but can’t remember how I found hers. I enjoy hearing about your children. Just had my first 2months ago and can certainly relate. Finally catching up on my sleep some but definitely not out of the red. Have a good evening.

I am a lurker(scandalous!) I found you through Amanda, who I found through someone else, because a bunch of them went to Bible school with my sister (on Thetis Island). I also went to school for a semester with Tianna Reimer (Swabey then). I enjoy reading your blog, you are very entertaining… and I am also a proud Dutch Girl!
[Reply]
I often read the links on your blog and have commented from time to time – man I don’t want to be called a lurker…
I’ll have to change my ways!
Thanks for being a regular on my blog – I don’t have many
[Reply]
Hi! I’m no lurker either, however, we did meet through the internet & this whole blogging thing. But I have now met you in person too. So, now I’m definately not a lurker, right? I should comment more often though. Thanks for often, if not always, commenting on mine.

Hello Angella, I guess I have to come clean. I read your blog. I either found you through Stephanie or Amanda. A long time ago I was a young mom with 4 tiny tots so I really enjoy reading your blogs and some of the other young moms blogs also. I had a husband who built us homes, took us on holidays, spent lots of time with us and did lots of fun stuff with the kids and we had a pretty good life for quite a few years and unfortuantly our marriage didn’t last and we divorced recently. When I read your blogs I get a little sad with how it ended as I really had hoped to grow old with him.
[Reply]
Hi Angella…I’ve already introduced myself to you and gave you the long and twisted connection, and though I’ve never met you I enjoy following your life and am thankful to have your comments on my blog too. Maybe one day we’ll meet up when I’m back in SA, then I won’t just have to be a blog identity or whatever my title is.?!
[Reply]
You’re too funny. and obviously quite popular too!
[Reply]
hi i completely enjoy reading your blog….i met you years ago when jen and brandon got married, i was one of jen’s bridesmaids. i hope it doesn’t creep you out but your blog makee me laugh and i enjoy it. i’ve also checked out some of the recipies and they look delicious!
[Reply]
Hey! Great to see that NaBloPoMo isnt wearing you down yet. Keep up the great blogging work!!
[Reply]
Hi… Im Megan, and from Summerland. I like keeping up with Summerland folk, as I am not currently living there. I feel creepy because I read your day to day details, yet you have no clue about me, but I love your blog (and some of your linked blogs). I am not married, nor have kids, so I live vicariously through you until I one day will have my own adventures. I will be sure to blog then! (I don’t have a blog now… unfortunately). Thanks for providing me with the much needed brain breaks in between studying.
[Reply]
I guess I would follow under the lurker catagory as I come from Kami’s Blog. I am sure she has called me a lurker before. Some days Kami does not post or I need more of a blog fix before starting the day or to interupt the day. I am sorry I missed the “long booger pull brain” post. It sounds intriguing.

You know what they say…
If you ain’t Dutch, you ain’t much!
I found you through Danica from my aunt’s site, Life Lines.
[Reply]
Wow you must be cool to have so many lurkers come out of hiding! I love stat counters. They are also helpful for putting ones curiosity to rest when you have an anonymous person leaving nasty comments. Amazing what you can do with an IP address!

hi my name is angela and i do read your blog i enjoy reading about other moms in the midst of raiseing kidlet anyway i found you thru someones blog. iam new to this so i didn’t know what clicking on the names was but once i discovered this i got hooked. On long winter days when i feel there is no end i step from me world into others and it is so nice to take that break. Anyway thank you for letting me read your blog and God bless .

Hi my name is also Angela. I guess I am a “lurker” too and have been following you quite regularly. I check out lots of blogs daily (can we say obsession or bored?…but then again, is being bored with a 10 month old at home possible?)- but call me lazy with posting comments. I found you through my friend Kelle in Regina who is friends with Jen who had a link to Kickyboots. Then I found out my sister went to Capenwray with both Amanda and Christy- what a small world! Anyways, you keep my me chuckling regularly as I relate to many of your stories with little one of my own. You have a very beautiful spirit- I can tell you are a loving wife and mother and wonderful friend.

Hey, I found your blog through Shalane, Kaili’s sister and was excited to see that our kids were in puddle jumpers together and now preschool. (especially since Jill talks about Graham all the time). You great writer.I love to catch up on the day to day craziness of your household. Congatulations on your new family!
PS. It feels kind of creepy doing this, I guess I am a lurker too.
[Reply]
WOW! You’re practically a Blogebrity too! As I’m sure you know Im a regular DutchBlitz reader and player of the card game as a matter of fact. Both have given me many moments of laughter and fun. But I do prefer you in person best of all.

Hello- I am de-lurking. A few months ago I ran across your site and enjoyed reading all your stories. Then, I misplaced your web address and could not for the life of me remember where I had found your link. I searched my usual blog favorites up and down and could not find you! I was so sad. Then, the other day, I commented on Whoorl and was perusing the other commenters blogs- HELLO! There you were!! YESSSSS! So, now you are carefully saved in my favorites where I can never misplace you again.

1. I must admit, I’m the one who found you by googling “hot boobs spraying milk”.
2. I would like to read your blog everyday but don’t due to time constraints; I’m sorry I don’t comment more often.
3. You make cute babies.
4. That sounds like a sweet statcounter, mine only tells me a few things, maybe I should switch.
5. Number one is not true. But I couldn’t resist.

Hi, I actually met you in person last year at a wedding. I’m from the other side of the family, soon to be your sister’s sister in law. I link over here from her site. Love reading yours and Amanda’s site, it’s how I found other great sites like leah, whoorl and dooce.
[Reply]
Hi! I read you all the time. I love it when you comment on mine. I try to comment as often as I can. You know how I know you, and I know I’ve probably met you in person but I don’t remember it. I should get me a statcounter too.

Hey I’m Karalyn.
You don’t know me but I think you know my mom. Her name is Heidi and she’s the church secretary.
I know Christy and I found your site through her blog.
I love reading your blog.

I found your site through visiting Christy and Amanda’s sites. I went to Capernwray with them. You’re funny – there must be something in that Summerland water that makes women funny – and pregnant!
[Reply]
De-lurking for a moment to say hello and tell you that I love reading your daily posts. You’ve been “favorited”.
