The very next day after I did my post about Potty Talking, Nathan decided to up his potty game. I was sitting at the kitchen table surfing the Internet working, when he came out of the downstairs bathroom and called to me, “Mommy! I just peed on the toilet!”
I went down to investigate, and he wasn’t joking. He had taken off his shorts and his diaper and peed on the toilet. All by himself. With absolutely no encouragement from myself or Matthew. Huh. That was easy.
He’s done that a number of times since then, and even asked to go to the bathroom at the grocery store the other day. I tried to get him to just pee in his diaper, but he refused. This kid is making me train him, against my will.
He’s been running around in underwear but still didn’t want to poop on the toilet. After a couple of number twos in his gaunch (Where I hosed off his crack outside! With the garden hose! Using my thumb for the power spray!), I bought him some pull-ups. It’s been a good balance for us. He takes pride in his ability to pee, especially on the Pee Tree.
Still no luck on Train Number Two, even with the promise of a NEW TOY. Tonight I tried yet again. I could tell by the look on his face that he was about to push out a little somethin’ somethin’. I told him that if he pooped on the potty I would give him CHOCOLATE. I also threw in an offer to let him watch some TV while he worked on his dropping technique.
You may be wondering what in the world is in his hand. It’s brown, it’s soft…it’s a piece of chocolate. He had dropped one little turd, so I rewarded him with a piece of goodness. What a life, hey? Sitting on the can, watching a movie and chomping on chocolate. You’d think he was Royalty.
Graham was excited about this situation. He was buzzing around like only Graham can and could not contain his glee. He wanted front row seats to all of the action (Check out Nathan’s pooping face).
Part of Graham’s happiness is because he’s proud of his little brother. The other part is because if Nathan gets a new toy, then Graham gets to play with it. But the main excitement is due to Nathan’s big accomplishment. Sure it is.
I asked him Nathan if he was done and he said, “Let me check.”
Yep. All done.
Nathan ended up dropping three little turds for all of his efforts (hence the title…I wasn’t referring to my kids…at least not today).
I wish someone gave me chocolate or bought me a NEW TOY every time I dropped a turd.
PS – I’m proud of you, buddy.

You crack me up.
Go, Nathan!

Really when you grow up all the fun stuff is gone, like the easter bunny and the tooth fairy, and let’s not forget Santa Clause. It’s amazing to see that innocent joy in their eyes. Congrats on getting your 3 little turds out of him….i’m sure you can’t wait for them to roll out… ha ha ha ok bad joke!

problem is.. our toys are more expensive. I’m sure that’s the only reason this is not already a policy in place! Good job, buddy!!

Yep, that has therapy written all over it
It was bad enough when we were kids, all those embarrassing pictures our moms took of us. But now? WE have the Internet, to proudly display the same kinds of pictures our moms kept in a shoebox!!
But GO Nathan! Good work.
