Saturday morning started like every other morning. We were up at the butt-crack of dawn. Actually, it was before the sun even rose. Ug.
Such is the life of a Mom.
Matthew spent Saturday morning ripping out the (rotting! ugly!) old stairs to the basement so that he can put in the (shiny! pretty!) new stairs to complement the (almost! finished!) laundry room. You know that photos will follow. When it is done. We’re aiming for 2010.
I was thinking of what I could do with the kids that did not entail going outside. While the afternoons have been mild, the mornings have been (horrendously! bitterly!) cold.
Matthew’s Mom called me last week and asked if I could take a photo of our kids for a frame she had bought to house photos of her three sets of grandkids. She had wondered if I could maybe have Emily wear an outfit that she had bestowed upon Miss E on her birthday. She had also suggested I maybe snap a photo of them before church one Sunday.
I do not know about you, but getting out of the house fully clothed and in my right mind is a feat of great magnificence most days. Sundays are even more monumental what with the fact that I actually do something to the boys’ hair. I might even be known to even clean the kids’ faces before heading out the door. Go me. The thought of trying to take photos amidst the chaos? Makes me want to stick a fork in my eyeball.
So? I did a photo shoot on Saturday morning. I’m going to unleash the results for Wordless Wednesday, but here’s the photo I submitted to the NoBloShoeMo pool on Saturday.
I know. I’m such a tease.
I could tell you about the power outage we had Saturday afternoon. And how when it happened, Matthew was running errands with the boys. And how I called him OVER AND OVER AGAIN. And how I almost threw the phone out of frustration because WHY DO YOU HAVE A CELL PHONE IF YOU DON’T TURN IT ON? I could not reach him.
You don’t want to hear about that. Trust me. Hormones + Frustration = Grumpy, grumpy, grumpy.
However. Sunday afternoon was good. I got some cute shots of Miss Emily in her parka. I think she looks like a Snow Princess. With a bit of ‘tude.
I love photos of her looking down.
I really do.
I also love her smirk.
And the twinkle in her eye.
What was the twinkle all about? It was because she was sitting on her favourite toy.
I think she’s her Momma’s daughter and will get her motorcycle license one day. Can’t you picture it? Her and I on duelling crotch rockets? Wheee!
Don’t worry – the quad was not running. We’re not so rowdy that we drive without helmets. She just loves to sit on it and watch Daddy chop wood. I don’t blame her. He’s all manly and hot when he’s chopping wood. Sigh.
I spent the rest of Sunday remembering and being thankful for all that I have been blessed with. My God, my husband, my kids, my family, my friends, my country…my everything. My cup runneth over.
What are you thankful for?

Dear Angella,
Why, oh WHY does the butt-crack of dawn have to come at, well…The butt-crack of dawn??? WHY????!!!!!
Sincerely,
SO not a morning person.

I am looking froward to Wednesday now.
As usual great pictures of Emily, I bet she thinks sitting on the quad is the best! How cute!

Beautiful post once again Angella.
I am thankful that my kids wake up WELL after the butt crack of dawn.
Period.
Oh and about a million other things too but really the butt crack of dawn thing helps with the other stuff. Immensly.
I am not a happy person before 7:30 AM. EVER. The kids, well, they clued into that really fast.

I am thankful for my husband, for all the support/love he gives me through good and bad days!
I love the pic of Em on the quad. It’s such a study in contrasts, the tough piece of machinery with the delicate little girl all decked out in pink.

I’m thankful for the chicks and Andrew, of course! And for a good life.
I like Emily’s smirk

I think it’s safe to say that our kid will be taking that same pose as Emily. We have a family of bike riders, and Mike can hardly wait for offspring to share his love with.
Great photos, as always.
I am thankful for: work, family, friends, my husband, my dog, my health, and that my husband and I want to be parents. Although we have no idea what the decision will mean or how easy or difficult the process will be, the fact that we’re both ready and thrilled and on the edge of our seats in anticipating of having each other’s baby takes my breath away.

I’m thankful I know how to take pictures so I can afford to not have a roommate! Heh, heh.
Love the pics — your daughter’s eyes will melt millions of hearts.

My mom just asked me for a family photo, too! It’s so much easier to take pictures of other people. The whole self-timer family portrait is tricky.
I’m thankful for so many things, it would be difficult to write them all down. But mostly, I’m thankful for my family, my friends and my health.

Great pics of Miss Emily! I look forward to seeing the photos of all 3 of them on Wednesday

I am thankful for a roof over our head. Literally. We used to always tell our kids to be thankful when there are children sleeping on the street with nothing to eat or a blanket to cover themselves…But once they actually seen it in Manila the reality hit hard for all of us. We got it good in Canada. Too good sometimes.

I am also thankful for my family – and for two blissful years with my hubby!
Your daughter has the most beautiful eyes!!

I am so excited about Wednesday! I am thankful for many, many things but the top of the list today is that I’m not a giraffe. 15 months of being pregnant, not for me! So thankful God created us with a shorter period of gestation!

Hmmm…I’m thankful for my family, friends, (including those I have yet to meet in person!) and my “baby,” my dog Sam!!!!

Right now, I am thankful for resilience. It has been some tough times as of late. Too tough to blog about obviously, but I pray for stength of the spirit and heart and am thankful for resilience.
