When Angella asks, Ali says yes.
you just can’t say no to someone as wizard as Angella (especially since she’s doing a guest post for me next week when i’m in St. Lucia). She loves RW&Co. and lancome hypnose. and starbucks lattes. as, of course, do i. only she likes the hazelnut ones, and if i’m flavoritizing mine, it’s gotta be gingerbread. mmm…gingerbread lattes. come back christmas. please. (oh, also, i make up words like flavoritizing. a lot)
anyhoo…I’m Ali. I spend my days working at a well-known children’s book publisher and i spend my evenings blogging over at Cheaper Than Therapy. I blog about my life, my work, my three kids, and my occasional brazilian waxes done by the lovely Argentina. I am an editor by trade…but use almost no capitalization in my posts. I eat cookie dough for dinner. I don’t drink out of anything but disposable containers. I lost my virginity on my wedding night. i like a lot of music you’ve probably never heard of. I have trouble falling asleep more often than not and i sing the words to Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” in my head instead of counting sheep. i love celebrity gossip, and even have my very own celebrity site called Juice: Entertainment News With Extra Pulp, where i am queen of the snark.
I pretend that i am both funny and fashionable. i am neither of these things.
and i am a guest post panicker. but since Thursdays are thursday thirteens over at Cheaper Than Therapy, i figure i’ll continue the tradition here at Angella’s and give you Ali’s official list of:
13 things that are Ali-approved
1. lululemon reverse grooves. these are magic pants, people. magic!

2. winsor pilates buns and thighs 20-minute dvd

3. the V-string. THIS is Victoria’s secret. and unfortunately, this is not MY body…

4. Chapstick medicated lip balm.

5. Pedro the Lion. i heart ALL David Bazan…but i love his Control album.

6. my Wii. i’m obsessed, people. obsessed. Super Mario Galaxy. Zelda. Tennis. Guitar Hero. (i’ve even been known to partake in a little high school musical karaoke…)
7. Rolling-up-the-rim-to-win. AND accepting free coffees from strangers…i’ve gotten three this month!

8. Anthropologie. yes, yes, i realize that Miss Metalia wrote about it first. but it’s THAT good. it deserves to be written about every day.

9. Smashbox foundation. they sell it at Shoppers Drug Mart, and it kicks MAC’s foundation’s tushie. (i would have used a different word there…but, it’s Angella’s site, yo. i’m keeping it clean)

10. skinny jeans.

11. ipod touch

12. Lost. seriously, each week i think it can’t get better…and that i can’t possibly have any more questions. and each week i’m shocked. How did Kate get Aaron? Why was Jack so awkward about it? Where’s Claire? i. must. know.

13. Chrismukah. no, my family didn’t invent this holiday, but we were celebrating long before Seth Cohen and Ryan Atwood were. and it’s the best holiday in the world. and not just because i score a new Coach bag every year.

well, there you have it. tongue kisses to all of you, and of course, to Angella, who i hope comes home tan and relaxed. come by and see me sometime, m’kay?

Comment by Karla on February 28th, 2008 @ 3:42 amSmashbox? You should have done this post yesterday morning- I just spent $40 on Mac foundation last night- d’oh! However, I will definitely be checking out VS and Anthropologie this weekend in Buffalo. Someone also recommended VS liquid hand soap to me but I can’t for the life of me remember which scent…
Comment by Steph on February 28th, 2008 @ 5:50 amI keep seeing Smashbox at Shoppers and ask myself… yes? no? Well if Ali says yes, then I say yes!
Oh Baby … LOST!!!! I even get to watch it with a friend tonight. SOOO excited
I can’t believe I forgot to mention this on Sunday!! At your recommendation, I’d picked up a pair of the lululemon pants in SF. I AM IN LOVE.
Oh, and Anthropologie forevah! (We’re going together next time you’re in town, right?)
metalia’s last blog post..Follow Me…
Comment by metalia on February 28th, 2008 @ 8:03 amOh Lost. You make my head explode every. Single. Week. Although, I am very glad that they kind of wrapped up a lot of the Kate stuff because I do NOT like her and she needs to STOP. SLAPPING. SAWYER!
Kristabella’s last blog post..DINAO Round 4 - The Political Edition
Comment by Kristabella on February 28th, 2008 @ 8:04 amhi Ali Lav here…i want some of those lululemon pants….as for LOST….i think on tonights episode that the cab driver is going to be a big shock for all of us….and i have a feeling that Claire is near by …because if they let charlie die in vain i am going.to.be.PISSED.
Comment by LAVENDULA on February 28th, 2008 @ 8:18 amGreat list! I want a Wii SOOOOO badly! I just need to save up my pennies, then it is mine, baby!
Lost is my absolute favourite show. It blows my mind every.single.week. Is it sad that I’ve been counting the days until Thursdays this season? No? Good.
I’ve heard great things about Lululemon pants, and how good they make your butt look. I don’t think I’m skinny enough for them, though, but I should check it out sometime.
Sharon’s last blog post..Taking a stand against bullying
Comment by Sharon on February 28th, 2008 @ 8:47 amI love my Wii. Wii tennis is how we decide who does the dishes in our house. Unless we get too wrapped up in it, then we just have super-competitive tennis tournaments and leave the dishes.
hills’s last blog post..Bella’s Birthday Cake Was Burning
Comment by hills on February 28th, 2008 @ 9:51 amI love lists and a great list that was!!! You’ve reminded me that perhaps I need to pick up a “roll up the rim to win” hot chocolate before I go to work! (Maybe I’ll win something big and not need to go to work today!)
Comment by Michele on February 28th, 2008 @ 10:41 amI covet those pants. Badly.
Miss’s last blog post..So sorry
Comment by Miss on February 28th, 2008 @ 11:50 amHey Ali, nice post.
What kind of skinny jeans are those? I recently bought two pairs of Old Navy “The Diva” jeans and am in LOVE with them. (actually I own three pair, I had to go back and buy a smaller size the second time- heck yeah)
I throwing away (or donating) all my bootcut jeans except maybe one pair. I am so done with bootcut. LONG LIVE SKINNY Jeans.
Hooray for chrismukah!
Jen’s last blog post..Love is a decision … sometimes a really tough one
Comment by Jen on February 28th, 2008 @ 12:19 pmWhat the heck is Chrismakuh? Christmas and Hannukah?
It’s hard to be from Vancouver and not own at least one pair of Lululemons. It’s basically a staple in all Vancouverites wardrobes-male or female! I think we see it as “ours”.
Meg’s last blog post..One of the worst parts…
Comment by Meg on February 28th, 2008 @ 2:18 pmMeg, I’m from the Vancouver area, and I’ve never owned a Luluemon pair of pants. I’ve always wanted to, but their sizing seems to be geared more towards smaller women. I’m slightly bigger than a size 12 (the largest size I saw on their website), so I doubt I’d want to subject myself to attempting to try on their pants. It would be too depressing.

Comment by Sharon on February 28th, 2008 @ 4:32 pmYou had me at Lululemon.
(And I just visited your blog and was flipping through your “Working Closet”—and I hope it won’t be a problem, but I need to borrow your red, belted Anthropologie sweater this weekend.)
The Over-Thinker’s last blog post..Now with more Air-Microphone
Comment by The Over-Thinker on February 28th, 2008 @ 6:39 pmSweet post, my friend.
Can you believe I don’t have any lululemon pants? After seeing many travellers wearing them on the airplane this week, I think I need a pair before I head to BlogHer in July.
Speaking of, I saw your comment on Heather B.’s post. Does that mean you are coming to SF in July?
*crosses fingers*
*and toes*

Groove pants are like push up bras for butts. I LOVE THEM!
Comment by Teej on February 28th, 2008 @ 3:12 amMaybe Jack is upset because he found out that Claire is his half sister so seeing the baby reminds him of her and it upsets him to see her separated from her baby.
I think the title Lost is a joke on the viewers because we are always lost trying to figure out the plot. A couple of years ago I used to think they were in purgatory, now that just seems ridiculous. I have a new theory every week.
