The Great Mofo Delurk

I was reading Whoorl’s Hair Thursday post this past weekend when I noticed an interesting button on her sidebar.

It’s a pretty green button that linked to Schmutzie’s site and her great post about the lack of commenting going on in the blogosphere. The great JenB was part of the whole de-lurking idea along with Schmutzie.

I totally related to the post Schmutzie wrote. The number of people who come here daily, yet do not say anything, is staggering. I added the button to my sidebar, but chose a shade of blue.

The Great Mofo Delurk 2007

As for the “mofo” part of the delurk button? I have not been known to use that term but it made me smirk. I do not tend to drop the “f-bomb” (No! Really!), but I have been known to drop the “s-bomb”. Out both my front and back ends.

Now, I admit, I am not the commenter I used to be (but I try!). This is due to the fact that the number of blogs in my feed reader keeps growing…and my free time keeps diminishing.

Driving kids all over Creation to school, play dates, swimming, etc. takes a chunk out of my day. Throw in the fact that I also need to buy groceries, make three meals (and snacks!) per day…as well as do my paying job and you can see that I would have to give up sleep in order to comment on all of the sites that I read.

However.

Today I will comment on every. single. site that I read. I just pray that our power doesn’t go out (It was out for TEN HOURS yesterday).

I am asking you to out yourself. Like you Tacoma! And you Ottawa! And you Gainseville! And you Glendora! The list goes on. And on. (And on and on and…)

I’ll even make it easy for you. All I’m asking for is a simple “Hi!”

But if you are so inspired, tell me what your favourite (favorite for you Americans) flower is. You regulars play along too. Let’s spread the comment love around.

I’ll start.

Hi! I’m Angella. My favourite flowers are daisies.

Daisies are my fave

Oh! I like sunflowers too.

Sunflowers are cool too

Your turn!

Oooo I’m first, I’m never first with the whole time zone thing, me being 3 hours behind and in bed when all of you are playing on your computers.
My favourite is a toss between gerbera daisies and hydrangeas.

  2. Hey Angela. I usually always comment so I don’t consider myself a lurker. Actually, you may WISH I was a lurker and didn’t talk so much – ha ha.

I do wish people would comment more on my blog, but maybe its just because the THREE people that actually VISIT my blog do comment – ha ha. I don’t have that bigga volume.

Anywho, my favorite flower is a hydrangea, today but ask me tomorrow and it may be different.

ok, ok, you got me. Yes, I read your blog regularly….and yes I also never comment. (I really should change that…your blogs are definitly comment worthy!) But here I am! Keep doing what you’re doing :) Favourite flower? I’d have to go with Gerbera daisies.

  8. HI ANGELLAAAAAAAA! My very favorite flower is a peony.

  9. Hi, I’m ashpags! =) My favorite flowers are any kind that someone gives me, haha. Beyond that, I’d say Wild Mountain Roses, and most things in the Lily family.

I think it’s hard to de-lurk because I always feel vaguely stalker-ish being interested in someone else’s life. Foto Fridays got me here, but I enjoyed the rest of your posts as well. Your kiddos are adorable! Thanks for encouraging the de-lurking. =)

  13. Hi! I love your new Lightbox photos. I sometimes use Corel PSP. I almost always leave comments (ok not ALWAYS) sometimes a girl just has nothing intelligent to say, but I try. Have a great day!

  14. I’m with Kristin, I quite like a simple bunch of tulips, and daffodils too. I don’t require much. I also like all the big pots of mums this time of year. Just wish I could keep one alive! Thanks for commenting on mine! You came just in time for some excitement. :)

Hi! I’ve posted here before, but will say howdy once more. I’m in Las Vegas so most of the flowers I see are dead, dead, dead from the eternal sunshine. I have many favorites (of the living variety) and the one that comes to mind is a fully blooming rhododendron. Yeah, I’m cheating because I’m picturing the whole bush, but hey, whatever.

    Have a fantastic day!

  19. My favorite flower… that’s hard. I love Birds of Paradise and daylilies. I used to grow Dahlia’s, which reminded me of my great grandmother’s garden. My mom grows dahlias that are actually from tubers taken from my great grandmother’s garden, just after her funeral. And tulips are awesome too. I just love flowers in general!

  20. Hi! I have been checking you site for some time now…(sheepish look) but always fail to comment. I linked to it through Dykstra’s-R-Us, and I’m originally a Summerlander (I was a year behind her in high school, but I know Jen). Your family is lovely!! and I love reading about all your adventures. I don’t really have a favorite flower, but I just got married and my bouquet was cream roses and freesia, so I’ll go with that. Happy posting! Cheers, Crystal

I agree with Kami….calla lillies, they were my bouquet as well.

No de-lurking here…I post every once in awhile!!

  36. Delurking…love your blog.
If we are talking cut flowers, tulips make me insanely happy.

    [Reply]

  37. Dahlias. They were my wedding bouquet as well. Which I made myself, so I think I should get extra points for that!
Someday when I’m old I’m just going to sit around and grow nothing but dahlias and tomatoes.

Hi! Have been reading your blog for a while (not even sure how I ended up here?!) and really enjoy it. My favorite flowers are just pretty wildflowers growing in a field. So simple but so pretty.

Well I’m a regular and I try to post often, mostly cuz I love what you write but I also love that you take time to email me if I say something you connect with! This is one great page to comment on. My favorite flowers are daisies as well. I wanted them so badly for my wedding but couldn’t afford real flowers so I spent hours making paper daisies, just so the pictures would look nice! Yikes.

Hi Angella! No de-lurking here, I leave plenty of comments! (Too many?!?!) I love all floweres but I have to say two of my favourites not mentioned are lilacs and sweet peas.

  43. When someone asks me this question, I usually say my favorite flower is daffodils. And I do like daffodils. But mostly I say that because it’s less annoying than saying, “Oh, I don’t know, I really like lots of different flowers, it depends on my mood,” etc. I also love gerbera daisies, regular daisies, marigolds, lilies-of-the-valley, and many others.

    [Reply]

  44. I’m a sucker for daisies too–all sizes, all colours (that’s for you, Canadian!).

    [Reply]

  45. I guess I’m sort of delurking too. I’ve commented once before (only my second blog comment ever) and despite my best efforts, made a typo! Here’s me trying again, hopefully this time error free.

Oh, and to answer the question, my favorite flowers are gerbera daisies and sunflowers.

I love lilies although my husband ( who knows this ) still gets me roses. Guess I shouldn’t complain at least he thinks to buy me flowers at random times.
