Today was a busy day. It was filled with back-to-school, surfing the Internet for vacation deals (Mexico! Probably!), wiping bums and, you know keeping my kids alive. The usual.
While making dinner I thought I would be a Good Blogger and update my version of WordPress. I backed up my posts and such and logged into my account with my web host. I clicked on the “update” button as I had done so many times before.
I hit the “refresh” button on my site and read the words that strike fear into any true blogger’s heart.
“Sorry, no posts match your criteria.”
I think I wet my pants a little.
I plied my children with snacks and called the Help Desk. The dude who answered the phone was nice…but seemed bewildered by my call…even though the message after the update said to contact the help desk IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM.
He kept floundering around and putting me on hold for unwarranted amounts of time.
While I sat staring blankly at my screen (and fighting back the tears), I saw the gmail status of Bethany. It said she was chatting with Heather (OMSH) (guru of all things WordPress). I told her to tell OMSH that I had just blown up my site.
Before I knew it, my friend Heather swooped in and saved the day!
Well, there is work to be done (I have an old, lame theme. Kind of like old, lame me.) but at least my posts are back. She had to get going because she had a date with her Honey (Whoo!) but she said she would get things back in order tomorrow. Ish.
So please forgive the poor layout. My anal retentiveness Type A personality is trying to chill-ax just a bit.
Look upon these lovely pieces of cuteness to distract you from the squishy columns.
So cute.
Is it working?
Did you forget about the SQUISHING OF THE COLUMNS?
Because I did not. This is why I hereby vow to use my ad revenue to PAY PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING.
Amen.
I am now going to do this:
And pray that tomorrow is a better day (for my site).
(PS - My host account is also not sending comments to my email account until a day or so until after you have posted them. I am not ignoring you. But I am shaking my fist at my computer screen.)

I am glad I could play a tiny, itty-bitty part in helping you out. I hope tomorrow everything’s put right.
Is it just me, or is Miss Emily actually getting 10% cuter EVERY SINGLE DAY?

Karla’s last blog post..The post in which I do not wear a bra
Comment by Karla on January 8th, 2008 @ 11:19 amIsn’t it GREAT to have people like OMSH around? I know I’m thankful for her (and her offer of FREE etsy advertising!). I think your site looks fine … but then it’s not mine … and YOU are YOUR toughest critic. I’m also anal retentive a type A personality, but it’s all or nothing with me …. but that’s a whole other blog post, instead of this blog post in a comment that I am writing you.
Pictures of your beautiful little babies ALWAYS do the trick to distract from anything unpleasant! Miss Emily has the most enchanting eyes ever. She’s a true beauty.
