Summer Has Returned

We had a week or so of cooler weather, but the summer sun has returned. I know, I know, I complained about the heat when we had it before. That was a different heat. It was the record-breaking/I’m-sweating-in-places-I-didn’t-know-you-could-sweat kind of heat. We’re back to the low-30′s heat, which makes me happy.

It means daily trips to the beach, which are a good outlet for the unceasing energy of my two boys. When the day is over, they are DONE, and bedtime is not an issue. To quote Graham, "I want to go to bed!", and to quote Nathan, "Night night!" You know they’re tired when they ask to go to bed.

I haven’t been far behind them, and feel almost back to normal. Except for the increasing discomfort due to the beach ball I’ve got out front. I just remind myself that if I think I’m tired now, it will hit a whole new level in 2 months. That would be newborn tired. At least I’ll have a soft little baby to cuddle.

We had a great afternoon at the beach yesterday and I found out that Honey actually knows how to use the camera. I mean, he takes my belly shots, but I have to drag him outside to do so, tell him where to stand, and look at what he’s taken before he is set free. He doesn’t generally take pictures of his own accord. But yesterday, he did. I was in the water with the boys, and he took a bunch. Not bad, I thought. It will be good for my kids to see that I am actually in more pictures than just the posed belly shots. Yes, this is a belly shot, but the rest of the ones on Flickr aren’t. This was the only picture that I knew he was taking, and I pulled out my standard kissy face.

The sun is shining again today, with the week’s forecast looking stellar. We will be beachin’ it for sure. Gotta get as much time in as we can, because before we know it, summer will be gone. August is halfway over after all. Sigh.
