Squeezing Every Moment

I have often received comments (Both in real life and online) where people ask me how I “do it all”.  I laugh a little and tell them that I do it all when the kids are in bed.

(I also laugh to myself at the thought that you all have no idea what I let slide around here.  NO. IDEA.  You would be shocked.  And possibly? Appalled.)

These past few weeks have not been the norm.  In addition to that (wonderfully) crazy conference called “BlogHer“, we have had a vast array of company.  I then went and jetted solo (Once again!) to Vancouver to attend one wedding and shoot another.

I am now in the midst of a work contract that involves me working outside of the home, an hour away from here.   Days and nights are spent working.  When I am not working I spend every spare moment hanging out with these three beautiful creatures.

Graham

Nathan

Emily

They love me.  They miss me.  They beg me not to leave and it rips my heart in two.

We have a great setup here in that when I need to work, they have Daddy Daycare.  Daddy is cool and Daddy is AWESOME.  The moment that I walk in the door, however, MOMMY IS THE QUEEN.  I have at keast one of them hanging off of me, if not all three.

Those three kidlets are the reason that my head has not exploded (so far).  Maybe it is because I have not been here, or maybe it is because they know that I am at the end of my rope emotionally (And physically.  NOBODY SHOULD BE THIS TIRED), but they have been little angels.

*Cue the choir*

I have a couple of days off coming up and I am sure they will bring on the crazy.  You should place bets on it.  THE ODDS ARE IN YOUR FAVOUR.

In the meantime I am reveling in their awesomeness.

(As for the “doing it all”?  I marked 397 posts as “read” last night to keep my head from actually exploding.  How are you?  I would truly love to know.)

  5. Those ARE some pretty stinkin’ cute kids! Bring on the crazy, right?! Life would be SO boring with out it.

Here… weeeelll, I am tired and whooped, and oh yeah, tired. Daniel is TDY so solo parenting is the name of the game. Oh, and for some reason this time I can not fall asleep without him in my bed. And I KNOW you understand the need for sleep when you have three small children!
But, in all that I am good. I have three healthy, lively children and a husband who loves and misses me. So, I’m fantastic. Thanks for asking!

    Have a fun weekend!

  11. This summer has been crazy–especially July. I’m hearing you with the “head exploding” thing. I totally admire that you don’t let your blog slide. Unfortunately, it seems that my blog is the first thing that suffers when I get really busy. But I know I want to keep it cause I miss it.

Your kids are so cute :) I hope they hold off on the crazy for a majority of your time together.

Can’t wait to see the photos of Hills and Shawn!

  17. We did a stint where I worked full time and Daddy was a Stay-At-Home-Dad. The kids RAN TO ME when I came home from work. They couldn’t get enough of me. Now, it’s the opposite. I’m home all day (working yes, but home all the same) so they’re all about Daddy! Daddy, can you play a game with me? The second he walks in the door.
I think it’s that thing where the parent who is away the most is missed the most!

As for me? It’s been a very tough week for me, but I’m slowly getting there. But thanks for asking ;-)

Don’t know how you do it and keep it up!! But I’m constantly intrigued by how different(ly) God has enabled us to be and put keep it all together.
But do make sure you and your fabulous family keep it all together – how about taking a good block of time out together and soon?!
