Spring, Interrupted

On Wednesday afternoon, we had a freak snow storm.

One of the Web definitions for freak:

freak (n.)

A thing or occurrence that is markedly unusual or irregular: A freak of nature produced the midsummer snow.

Snowy deck
It most certainly is not midsummer, but it is now officially spring. The snow storm was entirely my fault because I had gone and hauled out the deck furniture. My bad.

I had a little chat with Miss Spring. I told her to pick up her socks and DO HER JOB. Old Man Winter has been having his way with us long enough. She needed to suck it up and bring in the sunshine and warmth. It should not be so hard to give Winter the boot; he is a crotchety old man, after all.

I thought we had come to a peace of sorts. The sun came out and melted the snow. It was still nowhere close to being balmy, but we at least the ground was back to brown instead of white. I even managed to catch some shots of those two boys of mine on Thursday afternoon while Emily was napping.

Graham. He of the sweet words.

Graham

He also asked me how the three of them got into my tummy when they were babies. Um. I asked him if I could answer that question when he was ten. He said, “That’s a great idea”.

I fully agree.

Mr. Nathan. Women of all ages love this guy.

Nate Dawg

Look at the eyelashes this dude sports.

Lashes

My Kingdom for lashes like those.

I woke Miss Emily up from her nap and (shockingly) took the camera along.

Sleepy girl

Look at all of that glorious hair! It won’t be long until I can put some kind of ribbon or bow in there.

Rubbing the eyes

That photo captures the essence of how I feel every. single. morning.

On Friday afternoon, Emily went for her nap and Matthew took the boys out side so I could work. I was furiously Twittering Flickring Gmailing (Those three? Are the Perfect Storm of Procrastination) working away.

I looked up from my laptop to see this:

The fort and such

That’s it Spring! You failed! You are dead to me.

In brighter news…

Last night a group of us girls were heading out for Christy’s birthday. I got all gussied up and (of course) took a self portrait.

My bad self

I have been trying all week to do a new self-portrait of myself. The result has been approximately fifty photos of me looking stunned, old, or constipated. Or all three. I think this one might do the trick. Maybe.

The night was great. How could it not be with this group of hotties.

Christy’s birthday!

(Erin, Tianna, Christy, Amanda, Moi, Karyn)

And because I don’t get out enough, Matthew and I are leaving the kids with my brother this afternoon/evening and doing a whole lot of shopping.

He has a list of tools/equipment that he wants to spend his birthday money on. I have a bunch of photography books that I would like to view at Chapters before I purchase them online. The plan is to divide and conquer, and then have a lovely evening out together.

Come rain, shine, or even SNOW.

Well, Spring has failed me too. Yesterday was moving day for my family and what do we wake up to? SNOW. What was that about? It slowed things down a lot and made for a soggy, wet mess! And then of course, at the end of the day, Mr. Sun came out for a bit. Unbelievable!

Comment by Michele on March 29th, 2008 @ 9:33 am

You must have sent that snow our way, grrrrr.

You are so funny, this post had me laughing out loud several times and you look neither old, constipated or stunned in the photo. Nope. Just your hot little self.

:-)

We had snow yesterday morning and again today. Thank goodness that funny thing called the sun is out and melting it all away as I type. The so called spring has brought flu and snow here, so I say bring on summer!

I like winter. Really, I do. But it’s so last season now. I want a crocus in my life.

We’ve had some crazy weather here too. It’s quite ridiculous. Hopefully it’s just getting all the snow out of it’s system once and for all, and can actually be spring soon.

This morning on my run it couldn’t make up it’s mind if it wanted to snow or rain. Right now it’s settling for rain, which is much more acceptable.

The last picture of Miss Emily is exactly how I feel when I wake up too. Ugh. Mornings are rough, yo!

Hope you have a fun day out today!

No snow here, just rain. Spring can’t decide if it wants to show its pretty face here or not either

The snow came to us yesterday. Crazy. You could totally get some clips in that sweet baby’s hair. I’ve seen girls with peach fuzz hair sporting them. But what do I know? I have boys. They don’t wear no bows.

My answer.. though I have yet to give it.
God let Daddy plant a seed in Mommy to grow you.
How’s that for generic yet vaguely correct?

I’m totally putting this on my to-do list:
#1 Try to look more stunned, old and constipated

Because seriously? You are SO beautiful. You don’t even know. Start listening to Matthew :-) (P.S. Matthew, please send the check to my work address this time, my husband is wondering what is up.)

Now, go put the deck furniture away and go wash your car because we need some rain.

xoxo

I think you guys have had enough winter - bring on the REAL spring! I just love looking at photos of your deck area though - that spa pool looks soooo inviting!

Glad you had a fun girlie night! You all look amazing!

We’re having the same odd weather here. There’s a full-fledged blizzard outside my window as I type. Whaddup with that?

Beauty pics, as usual. Especially the two of Emily. Makes me want to go wake Csilla up and kiss her little ears. Wait. Scratch that ‘cus it’s just crazy talk. I’ll kiss her ears in the morning.

Toodles.

Great shots… and I’m just like you about the self-portraits. My face always looks 10x puffier than I feel; and then I’m cracking up about the fact that I spent 20 minutes and 50 plus shots later for a much less than perfect shot.

Your pic is great though.. and I love the pic of you and the girls. I sooooo need one of those nights.

Yeah, we got the weird snow thing too. Extra weird because we got no, that’s right *no* snow all winter for the first time ever and now we get it at the end of March. Silly!

Ug. That looks like Utah right now. I hate spring. It teases you and then thrusts you back into winter. :S

And?

When Emily gets enough hair for Cindy Lu Who piggies you must post a million and four photos. :)

It snowed here too. I woke up on Friday and was all confused because why is there snow on the ground? Does not compute.

Also I love how ridiculously un-pregnant, Amanda looks. I am actually kind of jealous.
