We did end up going to the cabin this weekend. We left bright and early Saturday morning, and made a few stops along the way. The stops were mostly to get some more fishing gear for Honey. With all that I spend on stamping supplies, it’s only fair that he can buy fishing supplies.
The four of us had a great time, despite:
- Graham alternating between barfing/gagging, and then running around with Nathan trying to catch our “pet” squirrel.
- Nathan having a very short nap each day…as well as working on his 2-year molars. Two have broken skin. I hope the process doesn’t drag on like Graham’s did. I just may have to medicate myself in order to cope if it gets as bad as it did when G went through it.
- Me having some serious Braxton Hicks/cramping if I did anything remotely strenuous, such as lifting a magazine up off of the table. Picking up either of the kids? Let’s just say I’ll be doing that even less than I do already. I think the baby’s trying to give me a glimpse of what guys feel when they are hit in their nether-regions.
It could have been so very much worse. The kids were in great moods in spite of their issues. The squirrel provided good entertainment, as did a boat ride. Oh, and don’t forget the movies I brought along to play on the laptop when we were inside. And me? Well…the view gets me every time.
Almost makes me want to go live up in the wilderness full time. Almost.
Matthew managed to get 2 short fishing trips in, and even caught and released a few. He caught a good-sized one right before we left but he didn’t want our 4Runner to smell like fish. Or for us to smell like fish, for that matter.
Yesterday we headed to the IPE on our way home. It’s a huge Exhibition (goats and pigs and cows, oh my!). Needless to say, the kids were beyond thrilled with all of the smelly farm animals. I think Nathan would have taken this one home if he could have:
Note the name – “Calfe Latte”. She was pretty cute.
And check out my “warms my heart” picture from that day:
We would have stayed longer than the 2 hours we did, but it was hot. And Graham was still not feeling hot. And I was thinking that the pains “down below” were telling me to lay low. As in horizontal.
Which is what I did for the remainder of the day once we got home. In between doing four loads of laundry. I know, I know, take it easy…but part of me is really tired of being pregnant. An even bigger part of me just wants to meet Baby D already. Patience is not one of the virtues that comes naturally to me. According to the weekly pregnancy site I read, the baby weighs approximately 5 pounds by now. That’s the size of an “average” baby. Since it’s one of my “big” babies, it has to be at least 7 pounds by now, right?
Today has been a low-key day. A bit of puttering here, a bit of playing there. This week is shaping up to be a busy one (What? Us? Busy? Never!), so I’ll take this day with glee. I’m hoping there’s some good telly on tonight to cap off this quiet day. Better yet, I’ll just keep browsing through my new IKEA catalogue…could be dangerous.

Wow, that looks like a beautiful place! What a great photo.
Sorry to hear that the kids weren’t feeling 100%. I hope Graham is better soon and that Nathan’s teeth come through quickly. All FOUR of Tyler’s 2-year molars have broken the skin but they still have a way to go.
I hope you managed to get some rest once you got home!

Nice photos. Don’t you love the new catalogue. We are moving at the end of the month, but we will be back to build our house – don’t know the time frame yet.

I had to laugh when I read that you (too) are reading your ikea catalogue whenever you get a chance. mine is always beside me… never too far away. Now… if only I had about… hmmm… $10,000 to spend! Isn’t it fun to be a girl!?
