Real Moms

I had a busy day. So busy in that I was out with the kidlets all morning, had company all afternoon, and was out again with the family until about 8 pm. At lunch, however, I checked my email and my stat counter. Why I checked it I don’t know, but good thing I did! I had about 50 billion people (maybe not that many, but a LOT of people) come to me from SAJ’s site. Turns out she tagged me with a meme about Real Moms. Good thing I saw the tag at lunch, because now that the kids are in bed I actually have fodder for my post. Here goes!

REAL MOMS do not have blood coursing through their veins. The have CAFFEINE coursing through their veins. While I start the day with a “latte” (skim milk heated in the nuker, with a dollop of instant coffee and hazelnut syrup), my drug of choice for the rest of the day is Diet Coke.

I’d like to be able to say that I have my first one of the day at lunch. I could say that, but I would be lying to your face. Let’s just say that I often crack one at 8:00. In the morning. I’m not even kidding. My right eye has been twitching lately, but I’m positive it’s not at all related.

REAL MOMS live on a diet of “leftovers and Diet Coke”. I actually read that once and it is SO TRUE. Here’s what’s left of Graham’s lunch.

How much do you want to bet that I ate some goldfish and had a bite of cookie before I turfed it? While I’m not normally an advocate for gambling, I’m advising you to PUT IT ALL ON THIS ONE. Double or nothing. You’ll make a killing.

REAL MOMS use the T.V. (or two T.V.’s) when absolutely necessary.

With Graham, I would place him out of sight of the TV at all costs.

With Nathan, I would use a Baby Einstein video if he was fussy.

With Emily…I have used the Einstein videos to entertain her so I can do important things like laundry, dishes…and taking the above photos. Never mind the occasional trip to the bathroom BY MYSELF.

You do what you gotta do, folks.

I could go on and on (and on and on) about what REAL MOMS do, but I want to leave ideas for those I’m about to tag.

I tag Karen, Christy, Kami, Vicki and Hannah. I won’t be offended if you don’t want to play. And if I haven’t tagged you and you want to play, fly at ‘er!

Don’t forget that you have to include a picture!

  3. Sweet post. I think I may do a post soon about everything I do in one day. It may make me feel more positive when those nasty thoughts of “What DID I get done today??” creep in. The only shows our kids watch are Monster Jam/Nascar or Jeopardy. Sometimes Magic Schoolbus. Having those free half hours do wonders for the mind of a mommy.

  4. Hehe, I agree with all of yours! But I prefer Coke Zero to Diet Coke. Still the same primary ingredient though ;-)

Thanks for tagging me, I’ll get onto it over the weekend. Need to think up some good ones!
