Matthew took my brother Lance and Karen’s hubby Travis up to the cabin. They left early Thursday morning and got back yesterday afternoon. Now before you start thinking that he’s a bad hubby for leaving me when I’m big and preggo, that’s definitely not necessary. It was I who insisted they go away, as he’s been working like a madman for over 2 months, and needed some fishing time. Plus, we’ve set a date to get away in September, and have arranged for his parents to watch the kids.
It went by fast. Karen brought her 2 munchkins here, and while our 4 kids were sleeping, we had a stampin’ good time. Add to that the fact that we had uninterrupted conversation, and you can understand that it was a great evening.
Another positive/negative aspect of Honey being gone was that he took my laptop to watch a movie while they were up there. My laptop currently sits on my kitchen table, with wireless Internet. This makes it easy for me to be on here often throughout the day, if we happen to be at home. I also have a desktop down in the office, but I can’t keep my kids from beating each other if I’m that far out of sight. Kidding. They don’t beat each other…but there are bouts of screaming over toys sometimes.
While I felt a little disconnected from the Internet, I also got things done. Not big things, but small things I wanted to stay on top of. Amazing what can happen when being sucked in to the computer world just isn’t an option. I might just give myself some days of computer “fasting” just to get more done. Especially if that “more” includes stamping.
Honey was home before 3 yesterday afternoon, and we all headed to the beach. I took another huge amount of photos, some of which are on Flickr. I also finally had the chance this morning to play with Flickr Toys, and made a mosaic of Graham “diving”. He goes straight into the water when we get there, and usually doesn’t come out until we leave.

On the last batch of pictures I uploaded, Leah added a comment to this picture of Nathan:
“I think your kids smile more than any kids ever.”
That comment made me smile. I do have “smiley” kids. Every time we are out and about, they smile at people and talk to them. These people always comment on how happy my kids are…and what great smiles they have.
I’ve been told that I also smile a lot, and I think I do. I just can’t help it. Life is good, and if it ever isn’t…I know it will be again. So maybe they get some of it from me. And Honey too – he’s a pretty happy guy. We’re just a happy family, I guess.
Which makes me smile.
I’m not sure if I should lay claim to the title to “Most Smiley Kids” though. They’re already finalists in the “Cutest Kids EVER” category. No need for me to be greedy now.

This post put a lump in my throat ~ I love the line that life is good and if it isn’t, it will be again. So true.

I read that comment on Flikr too and agree, you are a very happy family. That’s the way it should be!
I was away from the computer for a week and I DIDN’T go into withdrawal. Amazing, yet here I am back to my old tricks. Old habits die hard!

I like those computer free days as well, but I also like the days with the computer! Before I had kids I never thought it would make me so happy to hear that people think my kids are happy, (did that make sense, sorry pregnancy brain). Since we got to G-twon people have been commenting on how happy Belle is all the time and it just makes me excited! I love that you love your kids smiles! And they have great ones to boot! I can’t wait to see your shining happy family grow, and have another reason to grin from ear to ear!

you DO have smiley kids. Smiley kids are awesome. I have some myself (although I also have grumpyface kids at moments…and poutyface, too).

I love kids’ smiles…whoever kids they may be…but your kids are awfully cute
I get that a lot too…how “happy” my boys are. Makes my heart happy to hear that we must be doing something right.
