Pooping Daisies
Date: Tuesday April 8, 2008Posted in: Blogging, Emily, Family, Friends, Graham, Nathan
Yesterday was a day full of kittens and bunnies and donkeys.
Then a gaggle of unicorns arrived in our yard so the children sat down to watch the show.
Rainbows appeared and everything was magical.
“Hey Emily! Did you see the daisy pop out of that unicorn’s bum?”
The fairies joined the prancing party and they were amazed at the wonder of it all.
Being the great Mommy I am, I thought that I should bring them back to reality. I told them that what they were really watching was the the pump truck sucking all of our crap (literally) out of the septic tank.
They weren’t sure what to make of this news.
Honey has spent the last five days digging roots out of our septic line. Yesterday was the second time the truck came and the second full day he spent digging in dirt laced with our collective feces. He has (Another!) nasty cold, and I quote him, “I feel like crap and I’m digging in crap”.
The highlight (for me) about the whole thing is the sign on the pump truck:
“We’re #1 in the #2 business”
Heh.
Emily cannot sit still for long, so she decided to play hockey with a broom handle and a pine cone.
I love her in her jeans and sneakers.

I really should stop taking photos of them.
People who say that Internet friends are not “real” friends apparently do not have any. They sit by their computer, pining for the elusive “ding!” of their email chime.
Speaking of elusive, the Haribo Gummi Bears arrived!
Whoorl and I had finally given up hope yesterday morning of them ever arriving. I sent off all of the Canadian candy in the morning but the mail had not been delivered to our mail boxes yet. I checked in the afternoon and may have pooped a daisy out due to the perfect timing of them arriving when I really needed a pick me up.
I also received some really sweet news from another Internet friend yesterday. They are going to do something wonderfully amazing for me that will help me take my photography work up a notch. Or ten. I would tell you, but that would take the eventual thunder away. I am also a huge fan of teasing people, because I am awesome like that.
I offer a photo of my sweet girl instead.
You’ll have to excuse me. I feel another wave of daisies and rainbows about to hit.

That slogan reminds me of the septic guy on Red Green. He always had a new commercial for each episode. Ahhh, things I’ll miss when I move…

Comment by bethany actually on April 8th, 2008 @ 8:47 amHA! That line on the honey wagon is too funny. I’ll have to share that with parents.. they also get visits from the honey wagon on their acreage. However, they haven’t had to do what Matthew is doing… EWWWWW. I feel for him. Maybe the cold is a blessing? The sniffer is not firing on all cylinders?
Glad you got some good news. I was thinking of you yesterday. I hope you are feeling better today.

We saw a van the other day that was from a company that specializes in ridding your yard of dog poop. The company was called Hounds Mounds. I could not stop laughing at it.

My parents live on an island, and have had many interesting issues over the years with septic tanks, so I feel (or rather, can smell) your pain. Hopefully it will all be sorted soon!

I’m glad that things are going in a better direction.
And I’m pretty sure you should get a blogging award for being able to make a post about septic tanks all sweet and stuff!

Comment by The Over-Thinker on April 9th, 2008 @ 4:56 pmJeez. You had me for a minute there. I actually thought there were unicorns in your yard…
What a tease.
And what is it with septic tanks? Yours is not the first post I’ve read about having a septic tank sucked. I gag as I type.
(Although the other didn’t mention unicorns and daisies, so it wasn’t nearly as good. Oh, and it didn’t have pictures of your beautiful kids. So it definitely wasn’t as good.)
Thanks for sharing. Er, or not.

Spetic tanks freak me out.
One time when we were up visiting my Grandma in northern Wisconsin, hers busted and I’ve been scarred for life. And right then and there I decided it was city living for me!
And apparently I just stepped out of the show Green Acres.
