Playdates Are For Grown-Ups Too

I am a Mom, with three small children. Life is busy. That just might be the biggest understatement on the planet.

In the midst of the busyness, I do my best to get together with my friends. Why? Because my friends are also moms, and also have crazy children. Somehow, when we get together,we manage to have some pretty sweet conversations amidst the chaos.

Thursday mornings have fallen into a (pretty great) routine. My good friend Amanda (She who first clued me into what a blog even was almost three years ago) usually packs up Avelyn and ventures out into The Sticks to hang with me and my brood. She is all sorts of wonderful.

Emily and Avelyn have a tenuous relationship. They are toddlers. It is ALL ABOUT THEM. Sharing? NOT IN THE VOCABULARY. They are getting better, though. Instead of taking out the bulk of their aggression on each other? They take it out on their respective Mommies. Awesome.

They took a break from throwing cups and doll strollers at us (and each other) to have a Goldfish break. They were being all cute and looking over the back of our Breakfast Bar chairs. Amanda commented that it was a good photo op. She was right.

I took a swack of cute photos of Miss Avelyn. Here is one of them.

Amanda. She makes cute babies. I cannot wait to see the new girl she has cooking in that uterus of hers.

I other playdate news, I am venturing on one this afternoon. With my husband. And no kids. My brother (who lives with us) came home last night and told us that he had Friday off. And that we should get the heck out of dodge.

You don’t have to ask me twice.

In other news…

My kids have been watching this Discovery Channel clip ever since Loralee posted it the other day.

I DARE YOU to not sing it for the rest of the day. It is impossible. Hum-dee-ada, hum-dee-ada (or however you spell it)…

Last night we watched it approximately eleventy billion times. The kids then asked if we could watch a different video.

I remembered that I had posted videos on YouTube before I heard of Vimeo. This one was from a year ago.

It is one of my all-time favourites.

I remember that video!!! Emily’s laugh is so contagious! I have to admit, Emily and Avelyn are my two favourite “wee ones” to catch up on each day! They look like quite the pair - I’m sure they will be wonderful friends forever! Love the pics!
