One of the highlights of my weekend (Apart from the whole Imaginary Internet Friends becoming Real Life Friends deelio) was participating in the Shutter Sisters Photo Walk.
A ginormous group of women converged in the lobby of the hotel on Saturday afternoon in anticipation of walking throughout San Francisco and shooting photos. We were to split off into smaller groups and when Karen asked, “Who is coming with me?” I may or may not have shoved someone to the ground elbowed my way to the front because, well, it was Karen.
I had had the good fortune of having a few conversations with her and she is someone who exudes grace and charm, wit and wisdom, confidence and beauty. Those of you who have met her know exactly what I am talking about.
We stepped outside into the FRIGID weather. I am not even kidding. Everyone who was there will tell you that IT WAS COLD. Bossy looked at me in my sleeveless top and asked me why I was not wearing a jacket. I threw out my clutch response from the weekend: “I’m from Canada”.
(Side note: Upon returning to the car from Thursday’s impromptu photo walk in some random alley (If you know the name, tell me!), a girl asked us if the 22nd Street bus was coming. My response was a shrug and a statement that, “I’m from Canada”. That statement served me well all weekend long.)
The Photo Walk was everything I hoped it would be. We decided as a group to head over to China Town, and I think it was a good call.

That was in case I forgot where I was visiting.
I loved the colours in these purses.

This next photo is one of my faves, but some pretty sister’s head was in the bottom of the frame. Hence the weird crop.

I’ll stop typing and just POST SOME PHOTOS ALREADY.

Do you have a favourite (Favorite, for my American friends)?
If you want to see the rest of the photos I took, they are HERE (And public, so everyone can see them).
This trip has ignited a bit of a fire to do more travelling. To meet people, yes, but to also photograph places I have never been before. The question I keep asking myself is, “Where do I go next?“

Awesome photos – I loved China town, so many colors!
I think you should come to North Carolina next. Just because…

Wow – I love the photos! My favourites are definitely the mom/child and the streetcar.
Once you get bit by that traveling bug, it’s hard to stop. I totally heart it. I try to go somewhere at least once a year, even if it is just our annual trip at Christmas time.
I’d highly recommend Europe. I’ve seen some countries, but want to see so many more!
My next adventure is coming up in 18 days (EEEps! So close!), and I’m looking forward to all the photographic opportunities I’ll have then.

Where do you go next? San Diego, of course!
I like the dangling beads in the next-to-last photo.
When we lived in Canada, there were many times I only had to say apologetically, “I’m American,” and there would be understanding looks and nods all around.

I love the picture of the mama and the little girl. Such a sweet little moment!
Adam and I drove to Portland for a weekend recently, and we used the “We’re Canadian” probably 100 times in 3 days. It was awesome.

I like the street car….awesome! I also like the red chain one in your flickr album.
I think your next stop should be Ohio “The heart of it all” (no seriously that is our state theme) We could go all over downtown Cleveland and take photos. It is really cool. Or you could go to Chicago, it was totally awesome when I was there in Feb. I want to go again soon. Was going to take the girls this summer, but summer is running out.

I could give you a long list of suggestions, since it’s kind of my profession =) However, for photo purposes, I highly suggest Morocco. Just saying.
Also, I was going to comment on the “colour” and say, “you are from Canada!” then you beat me to it with “favorite.”

I love the one of the lantern with the tassel. The movement in it makes the whole thing much more dynamic and interesting than a still shot usually is.
Also, I have that little red buddah. I keep him on the shelf below Grover!
