Many moons ago (five years, if we want to be specific) I wrote a series titled Foto Fridays. (The writing is horrible. Please don’t click on that link.) I had learned how to do manual photography and was excited to share what I was learning, but in terminology that made sense to those of us who would read the camera manuals and somehow end up knowing even less than we did before we read said manuals. Those (embarrassing) posts are still one of the biggest things that drive Google traffic to my site, and are what brought many of you here, and what launched me to write about photography (for pay) elsewhere.
A few years ago, I had a shiny photography site designed and set up by Sean Slinsky (Holly’s husband) with the intent to put all of my favorite stuff over there. Right about the time that it was ready to roll, I went back to work at The Firm and all of my ‘creative’ hours were gone. I had to let go of so much that I loved, including taking photos for fun and updating my pretty, pretty site.
Yes, I love Instagram for the instant sharing, but I also love getting creative with my big, heavy, Canon 7D SLR. I think that I’ll start using Fridays to share the best of both worlds: My favorite Instagram photos, or re-posting a photography post that I’ve posted elsewhere. My photography site is going to be revived as well, probably with the tutorials I’ve written elsewhere, and most definitely with happy, shiny photos.
This makes me so happy just to type that all out.
To get this (photo) party started, here are some of my favorite iPhone/Instagram photos as of late.
It feels good to be back.
