(No, the title is not hinting that I’m pregnant. BITE YOUR TONGUE.)
July 16th is one of those dates that stick in your head because once upon a time, something happened that changed your life. It is not the birth of any of my children nor of Matthew or I.
It was the birth of the Blog.
I started out with a BlogSpot account, but went self-hosted almost a year later. At the time I switched I thought I would try to be “anonymous” with my last name (Insert hysterical laughter here) and I deleted my original account. (I am so S-M-R-T). I have backups in Word and hard copy printouts but nothing I can link to. Instead, I will re-post my inaugural entry below.

I’m new to the whole concept of “blogging.” I’ve been thinking about doing it as a means to distribute my propaganda. Namely, pictures and information about my kids.
After a night out with the girls last night…
I was inspired to get started. Now, a late night and an early morning (ala those same kids) does not make for an alert mind. I’m trying to see through the bleariness but it likely won’t get better until I have some of my beloved Diet Coke. Those who know me know I like the stuff. Those who know me well know that I don’t go a day without it.
I haven’t read many blogs, but what I’ve seen is that it is just a way for everyone to get their thoughts out there. Last night I started thinking…what do I have to say that people would want to read? Then I realized that we all have many aspects to ourselves, and I haven’t even discovered all of mine yet. Maybe some will come out as I write.

First of all, I kind of sound like me in that very first post. Funny, that.
Secondly, HOW WEE WERE GRAHAM AND NATHAN???
Last year, the third anniversary of my site fell on the day that I travelled to BlogHer. This year, it does not line up quite so perfectly (I fly to Chicago in six days) but in the spirit of blogging and BlogHer, I pondered giving my thoughts on the whole deal. I could never match up to MOM 101′s post or Kristen’s post about it, so I will just send you their way. Maybe I’ll post a few thoughts before I leave. Maybe.
So here I sit. Four years (FOUR YEARS) into this thing called Blog. Wicked cool awesome hot. Or something like that.
In honour (Canadian spelling. YO) of my blogiversary, can you leave a simple “Hi!” for me? I’d also love to know what brings you here, but if that’s too daunting, I totally understand (And would probably say “sorry” if given the chance, due to me being Canadian.)
If you’d like a different question to answer, why don’t you tell me what your favorite summer beverage is? I personally have been enjoying mojitos lately…

Hey Angella! What bring’s me by? Your writing. Curiosity. My attempt at trying to get a handle on this whole blog thing. Have a great time at blogHer. Hopefully I’ll meet you there next year!

I discovered your blog through a link from Kickyboots – although can’t remember how I originally came across Amanda’s blog. I read your blog regularly for so many reasons – it brings back so many memories of being a young mom of three kids so close together in age; being such a private person myself (just commenting puts me outside my comfort zone – seriously) I am always intrigued at how open you are with sharing the details of your life; I LOVE how you unashamedly share the depth of your faith yet it never comes across preachy; and your commitment to Matt, your kids and family-life is so refreshing in comparison to so much out there. Another reason I love to read your blog is that I grew up with a very narrow idea of what being a Christian is (a good Christian doesn’t dance, drink, swear, wear certain clothing etc.). It took me many years to realize that is not the case and that it is about our heart, not a list of do’s and don’ts. I thoroughly enjoy seeing you love God yet love life – which includes fun drinks! Which brings me to your last question – I am enjoying Vex Pink Lemonade this summer!

Hi! Its been awhile since I’ve commented, and I still haven’t gotten back into blogging yet, but your site is on my daily list of blog reads with Dooce and Whoorl.
Congrats on the your blogiversary! Keep up the good work!

I hit my five! year mark just this past June 24th. How crazy is that? (We are old-timers. We need bloggy canes, or something!) Four years! is amazing, and can I just say how incredibly glad I am that you’re here? Because I am. So incredibly glad.

Hi
I just looked up my blogiversary and it will be 6 years this Oct. Crazy. Too bad it tends to get neglected – and my writing skills are similar to that of a third grader.
For sh*ts and giggles I looked back at my first couple posts — I wish they had been deleted at some point! *ugh* Glad I’ve grown up a bit since then! I think.
I read your blog because you are funny, you are honest, and you’ve got mad writing and photography skills!

My favorite summer bev is iced tea. No fruit flavor please! Since I’ve been TRYING to avoid alcohol I am going with the non-booze option. Though I think I am bringing a flask to BlogHer. I am classy!
Happy four year anniversary! I am so glad I found your blog (or you found mine? or we found each other?) and that you put yourself out there. I learn from you all the time.

I don’t remember how I found your blog initially, but I have read every day since! I enjoy your honesty and humor about life and children.
I am drinking lots of lemonade and ice cold Cherry Coke (or Cherry Pepsi — add the cherry and I don’t care!)

Hi!
Congratulations and here’s to many more years!
I found you through Sherry who I found through Pittwatch. I love reading your blog, it always makes me smile.
Being a nosey sort of person, I love knowing what other people are up to; reading a blog is a little like reading someone’s diary, but WITH their permission. I also liken it to having a penpal, one who does all the writing!
Favourite summer drink: Fresh lemonade. We have a lot of lemons in Cyprus! Am also quite partial to strawberry daiquiris (hope I spelt that right!).

Hi! Happy Blogiversary. I have been reading for quite some time…although I rarely comment. Sorry (I’m Canadian too). I keep coming back because your photos are awesome, you have a great sense of humour and I find I relate to A LOT of what you have to say. Cheers to another 4 years…and them some!

Four years? WOW! And let me say you are darn good at it my friend. I come here because I like your words, photos and well, YOU! : )

Hi!
Can’t remember how I found your blogs – but I’m hooked, for reasons I’ve written about. Thanks for the way you allow us all to share so much of you and yours, through word and image, and in such a delightful writing style. Don’t overwork yourself, but pleez, keep sharing!
Favourite drink? Hard to get into the mood – now’s our winter! A cold beer (of course), and chilled tomato or apricot juice on teetotalling days (pardon the Aussie sp).

Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve commented! I figured this was a good opportunity to come out and say something
You have really grown into your writing! Please don’t take this as a backhanded compliment, but you have come a long way and write very very well now. It clearly comes naturally.
There’s a local brew pub here in Victoria that does fresh fruit mojitos and you really haven’t lived until you’ve had a crushed mango mojito at Spinnakers… Mmmmmm.

Consider this your simple “hi” from little ole me, one of your many loyal readers. I started reading your blog roughly Feb 08 (or somewhere thereabouts), but I spent one whole afternoon reading all the archives because, well, I like to gorge myself on witty jokes and cute baby pics.
Fav summer whistle-wetter? Same as every other time of year: Diet Pepsi (sorry, but I was raised on it, no offense to your beloved diet Coke. Methinks drinking preferences are akin to baseball team alliances. You’re kinda born into it. Go Cubs!) Also, my grandma’s awesome lemonade! And 7-Eleven Slurpees!

Bon Jour! (That’s French-Canadian, so it kind of fits.)
I honestly have NO idea how I found your blog. I think it was She Likes Purple? She maybe posted a guest post over here? All I know that I am GLAD I did find it and I’m happy to call you my friend! And I’m also glad I found you because through you I met Ali!
Those photos of Graham and Nathan are SO cute! They were so wee!

Happy Blogiversary! I haven’t commented in quite a while, but since you asked so nicely and all, Hiya! Love your site!
My favorite summer beverage of choice is probably lemonade. You know, the very fresh kind that you just squeezed and maybe your eye is still stinging from that pop of lemon juice that hit it in the process. Yeah, that kind.

Hi!
As for why I come…why don’t I come? You’re funny, witty, down-to-earth, tell it like it is and our kids are close in age with the same b, b, g configuration. I feel you in so many posts.
As for favorite beverage? Lemonade and tanqueray. Yummo!

Hi. Mojitos.
If you will permit me to wax poetic for a moment…
…when I first starting reading you and enjoying your pictures and loving your writing and kissing the computer screen when I saw photos of your beautiful children..wait. Scratch that last one. You can’t prove I did that one. Moving on…when I first found you I was instantly smitten. And then we wrote to one another and we found out many similiarities and realized we had Curly Hair Syndrome I knew that you’d be a Lifer for me.
Many congratulations on the anniversary of such a beautiful 4th child. I cannot wait to see you again in Chicago next week.
xoxo

Happy Bloggerversary!
I have been reading your blog for about 3 years (I found your link through Kickyboots) and I have been hooked on both of your blogs since then. Yyour take on life, marriage and parenthood is both informing and funny!
My favourite (canadian spelling!) summer beverages are 1. Ice Cold Club Soda with lemon wedges 2. Corona 3. Strawberry Margarita’s!
PS – I am sad to say that I am a Mojito virgin… although they look great in the commercial! I will have to try one soon…
Happy Drinking!

I linked over to your site through Amanda -kickyboots. I started reading because of the photography information, I have continued reading because of your warm thoughts on faith, love and family.
Mojitos are my current favorite as well. I started growing mint in the garden and needed a use…

Hi!
So I’m not quite so veteran to this blog/twitter/”social media” thing–and definitely newer to the mom side of it. (came from corporate america to hybrid mom only a month or so ago)
You were one of the first people we followed as Hybrid Mom because –truth be told–you made me laugh!
As for summer drink, being the liquor wuss I am (fellow moms SWEAR that will change!) my iced drink of choice is a tie between diet coke (with a REAL slice of lime) and Diet Arizona Green Tea.
Happy 4th bloggiversary to you — and just know that your voice is heard and much appreciated out there!
