As most of you know, we live in the sticks.
By “sticks”, I mean that we live out of town. Our neighbours have horses. And sheep. And llamas (no touchy!).
Matthew and the boys often take advantage of our location. While Emily is napping and I am reading blogs working, they will often hop on our quad or into our 4Runner and go on Grand Adventures.
Yesterday afternoon was my inaugural trek along with these boys of mine. Emily went down for her nap and we left her in the good hands of my brother Lance who is living with us.
I packed up my camera and jumped into the 4Runner with my three dudes.
We drove along a back road, a few logging roads, and the Trans Canada Trail. A creek weaves throughout the whole area.
We stopped so I could take a photo at one of the places where the creek met up with the road.
The dudes then took me to a cave that they had discovered on their last trip.
Daddy checked it out to make sure there were no bears and such. Nathan then emulated Daddy (per usual) and decided to double check that we were all safe.
He would be such a great force to be reckoned with, no?
Apparently all was well.
They showed me another part of the trail with a cool trestle.
The trestle ran over the creek. Here it is again.

Obviously. The trestle would not be there for no reason.
I like water. A lot. Maybe because I grew up on the Ocean. Okanagan Lake is amazing and all, but there is just something magnificent about the ocean.
I like any water, though. Water is good. And soothing.
I took this parting shot of the trestle.
I really liked the curved lines. Honey suggested we come back after it snows to get some pretty white-capped photos. I think that may be in order.
We got back home and ten minutes later Miss Emily woke up. She did not even know we were gone or that she had missed out on a great outing. Her time will come. Heck, it took me years to go on one of these outings. It was definitely worth the wait.
How was your Saturday?

i love days like that. mine involve no quad…however a stroll with my dudes (husband, little boy, and dog) in a more urban and less “sticks” kinda place…but good quality family time just the same! love the picture of the trestle (a word i have never heard before just now).

Great outing! Was hoping I would see a shot of the cave opening taken from the outside. Of course, I would not have gone in there. No telling who has been there before.
I am so enjoying your photography!

Beautiful pictures! Beautiful location! Beautiful family!
My Saturday consisted of two trips to the grocery store, catching up on my Everyday Italian and hearing Mike say things like, “Baby, will you feed me that carrot? No, no. More ranch dressing on it.”
Please trade with me. Just for a week or so.

Wow. You definately had a way cooler Saturday than I did. Anyone who sees these pictures cannot knock you for living in the sticks! Wow. Beautiful adventure!

Wonderful pictures! I agree – you should definitely go back when it’s snowy. Snow pictures are the best.
My Saturday was mainly lazy, then I went to an 80′s birthday party that was SO fun. All except one person dressed up, and it was hysterical. Good times all around.

Great shot of the trestle (sp?) Living in the sticks definitley has it’s advantages.

I do not think that I could go into that cave! EEEEKKKK…THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN AROUND ME!!!

Oooh, I too like the lines of that last shot. Pretty indeed.
Jeff and Kenny didn’t go out on Saturday, but today they hit the hunting path together. Of course with an ALMOST 5 YEAR OLD (he keeps remind us) the deer wouldn’t get within 10 miles of them, but it was fun pretending.

Your part of the world is so beautiful! I love the Okanagan. Actually, I am going there at Christmas time — what’s the weather like usually?
