One of the cool things going on around here is not really a secret.  As I have mentioned before, I am one of the Channel Editors for Blog Nosh magazine.

(See also the spiffy button on my side bar.)

I have had a bunch of people ask me what the heck Blog Nosh is.

Blog Nosh is the (Brilliant!) brainchild of Megan from Velveteen Mind.  Not only is the girl hilarious, she is also one of the hosts of The People’s Party.

I’m going to be there.  Are you?

Back to Blog Nosh.

Megan created a loverly FAQ page which will answer a lot of questions, but for those of you who are afraid to click (Hi Mom!), here is a short quote.

“Blog Nosh Magazine is an online magazine dedicated to promoting the best archived posts from your own personal blogs.”

The details are on the FAQ page, but we are basically looking for “magazine quality” posts.  If there is a post buried in your (or a friend’s) archives that deserves some glory?  Let us know about it!

My channel is the Art & Design Channel, which includes photography.  Shocking, I know. Here is the Editor’s Page.  I am at the top!  Which likely has nothing to do with my ability, but EVERYTHING to do with where my name ranks alphabetically.  Good thing there isn’t an Andrea in the mix, or I’d be usurped.

I have a great post in the Blog Nosh queue to start with, but if you wrote (or know of) something that would fit in my channel, LET ME KNOW.  We are all about spreading the link love.

I am pretty sure that Blog Nosh will be HUGE.  Add it to your feed reader to keep on top of the high quality posts we will be sharing.  Blog Nosh is on Twitter as well, because that is where the action is.  Once you realize our outstanding awesomeness, you may want to have a button for your sidebar.  We have those too.

Come nosh with us!

In other food news (NOM NOM NOM), I am a bit BORED with food.  Seriously.

Summer is here, and with it is a whole new season of cooking.  There are fresh fruits! And vegetables! And the barbecue!

Meh.

I love fresh fruits and veggies, but they can get a little boring when you eat them plain all of the time.  Nothing sounds appealing to me.  Well, except for nachos.  But I cannot eat them every day of the week.  Or can I? Not if I want to fit into my wardrobe, I guess.

I have a stack of unread magazines which likely have some good recipes in them.  I have been so swamped that the only time I could possibly read a magazine might be on the can, but I’m not in there long enough to even read a paragraph.  The stack of magazines keeps growing.  I figure I will get to them in September or so.

I need some good summer recipes, people!  Can you help a girl who needs some culinary inspiration?  Links are (more than) welcome.

One of my favorite ways to make veggies, it to use foil and a bit of butter. Don’t worry, the butter is really just ot help the veggies start to cook — then they start releasing their water into steam. Cut your foil large enough to fold over and make a pouch and put a dab of butter in (more if you just love the flavor of butter…ahem, that’s my hubby) I put a handful of veggies (your packet of foil should be about half full) into the middle of the foil and on top of the butter. Add seasonings…we use everything from plain garlic and pepper or salt and pepper to a varied mix of herbs. Wrap up your packet leaving room for the mix to expand a bit as steam is given off. Put this on the grill — or directly onto the coals of a fire…after 10 minutes or so flip it over. After another 10 minutes, remove and check your food. Obviously carrots will take longer to cook than, say, celery. Dish up and enjoy.
*You could also add some chicken or meatballs to this and it’s YUMMY.

I’m going to the People’s Party! They had me at free alcohol.

I’m the same way with cooking in the summer. I’m already tired of watermelon and it isn’t even July.

How do you feel about tofu? I want to make this: http://angrychicken.typepad.com/angry_chicken/2008/06/i-want-my-baby.html

I’ve also been in the mood for a greek salad lately. Must be the sunshine. When it’s especially hot all I can muster are appetizers for dinner- hummus and pitas and veggie plate sort of thing.

I am torn about the parties since there are two going on at the same time at BlogHer. What’s a girl to do!?

I was having the same dilema with summer cooking. I was stuck, clueless. I talked to some good girlfriends and one of the things we came up with that is SO easy, and Jaia loves it, plus it’s easy to bring to the beach. Wraps!! You can put anything in a wrap! Chicken ceaser, greek, curry…So yum!
Good luck, maybe you should post all the summer cooking ideas so others can drool over them then make them for their families!

I wish I could help, but I’m lacking the culinary mojo lately too. I’ve been roasting a lot of zucchini, yellow squash and eggplant lately. Make a big batch to keep for a few days. Throw it in a pita with some hummus, feta, roasted red peppers… it’s a pretty tasty lunch. But beyond that, the kitchen in my mind has apparently closed.

erm, I’ve had bbq’ed hamburgers for dinner every night for the last 3 days. I am not the person to ask for culinary inspiration. Right now my motto is “Can you grill it? I’ll eat it!” I’m not proud.

I’m like hills – this is the week for BBQ’s around here! I’ve had zucchini a few times, grilled with a little lemon juice and garlic – yum!

I get a lot of recipes from the Food Network websites, and the shows on there. Jamie Oliver always makes the most amazing veggie combinations, and they’re always so flavourful!

I completely understand the summer blah’s with food. Through the years we have found a lot of wonderful recipes from Eating Well Magazine. A lot of their items are archived now. We just received the latest one and there were a bunch of bean salads in it that my hubby was interested in making.

Good luck with Blog Nosh :)

Oh last night I made the most yummy quesadilla’s. Marinate some steak chunks in lime juice for about a half hour then saute with peppers and onions. Layer cheese, steak and pepper mixture and then more cheese between two tortillas. Place in frying pan over medium heat and flip when cheese melts on bottom.

Serve with guacamole and salsa and enjoy!

We are fully into winter comfort food mode down here, but in summer I love to experiment with all kinds of salads. I will try and dig out some recipes for you. I think I’ve put a few on my blog (search under the Recipes category).
BBQ grilled veg are great, like capsicum (peppers), zucchini, big flat mushrooms, etc. I love putting herb & garlic salt and olive oil on them and chargrilling them.

(I’m going to BOTH parties – probably start off at the BlogHer newbies one and end up sprawled indelicately in a corner at the People’s Party.)

I love your explanation of what Blog Nosh Magazine is. I’ve learned that I can’t force everyone to read the FAQ, so I need help from people like you. For real.

And nachos? The graphic for my “Nosh Notes” on Blog Nosh is nachos, because “Nosh Notes”? Sounds just like “nachos” to me.

Mmmmmmmm. I could live on nachos. We should have a nachos party to celebrate the launch. And I win the award for how many times someone can say “nachos” in a comment.

Hi. I enjoy your blog!

We’re into BBQ’d chicken breasts with Kikoman’s teriyaki glaze on them. Then I cut rings of fresh pinapple and BBQ them with the glaze, too!
VERY YUMMY!
