Being a parent is a ridiculous trip. I read a quote recently that sums it up so succinctly.
“Making the decision to have a child – it’s momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking outside your body.”
- Elizabeth Stone
Yes. THAT.
I’d always wanted to be a Mom and I got that wish, three times over. We do our best and we discuss how to parent better and sometimes we are at a loss as to how to make it better for these pieces of our hearts that are walking around unprotected.
But then sometimes you arrive at the school to pick up your kids and your son asks if he can show you what is hanging in the hallway outside of his classroom.
I asked him if the acronym phrases were given by friends in his class but, no. He was the one to fill them out.
At eight years old, he exudes more confidence, clarity, and wisdom than I do. I might ask him to give me lessons in a few years.

That is awesome. And his handwriting is neater than most adults!! Wow.
I remember hearing that quote when Ethan was a baby. I “got it” back then, but not to the extent that I “get it” now. As our kids get older, I think it’s even MORE obvious that our hearts are walking around outside our bodies.
Nathan is such a beautiful boy. Such a lovely soul. But then, that’s all three of your kiddos.
So awesome! I love both his “N” definitions. Those are things we should all strive to be in life!
Awesome!
But also makes me a little sad that he’s worried about letting people down at age 8. You’re 8! Be 8! Don’t worry about grown up stuff like that!
That is just awesome!
Oh my goodness. I feel like Nathan has the soul of an 80-year old lady. I mean that in a good way. A very good way :)
