My Two Year Blogiversary

Today marks two years to the day that I have been spewing verbal diarrhea onto the Internet. I know my archives don’t seem that long, but here’s the quick version.

I started with a blogspot blog, which had my last name in the title. I got a little spooked about creepy Internets after reading a few horror stories, so I switched platforms and got my own domain. I knew I could import my previous site, but thought there was too much incriminating evidence. So? I did what any intelligent woman idiot would do; I deleted my old blog. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Especially since everyone already knew my last name and where I lived. Duh. I have a hard copy in a binder, and backups in Word, but not an importable back-up. I could copy them in one-by-one, but I DON’T HAVE THE TIME.

For now? I just inserted my original post into my one-year post. Click here to read it.

Not much has changed. I still distribute propaganda about my kids. I still have hot friends. And I still drink copious amounts of Diet Coke. At least I’m consistent.

One thing that fascinates me about this whole blogosphere is my stat counter. I’m not as obsessive as I used to be. Again, NO TIME. The thing about the stats that intrigues me the most is how people get here. I love to see the Google searches that make people click here.

“Moody grumpy labour pregnancy”

Um, yeah. Read my archives from January 2006 (Oh yeah. Deleted. Start in June then.) to October 2006, and that should about cover that topic. Here’s one classic example.

Dutch man who is a dork

Let’s get this straight. I am the dork. Honey rocks.

“tall n lucky”

That would be Kristin, who I met last month. See Kristin? You are missed. Come back!

“Squirting sound in my head”

Hmm…I don’t remember that post.

“itchy bum in preschooler”

Apparently I’m not up to snuff on my wiping technique.

“Floppy boobs”

I have nursed three babies. ‘Nuf said.

In addition to the Google searches, I often wonder how else people ended up here. Are they a friend of a friend? Did they see one of the million comments I have left and come to see who left that lame one? Did they come here looking for a card game but were intrigued by the fact that I can consume so much Diet Coke and live to tell about it? Or do they come here to see pictures/hear stories of my stunning (and brilliant!) kidlets?

Just Keep Swimming

Trucking Along

Whazzup?

All three of them woke up with fluorescent green eye boogers today. Awesome.

So. It’s been two years, folks, and I’d like to celebrate. I would like to ask each and every one of you (including you regulars!) the question that I wonder every time someone stops by. I don’t ask blatant questions too often, so be a sweetie and humour me. It won’t cost you a thing…just a moment of your time.

If you won’t do it for me then do it for my three kidlets.

How did you end up here?

I will delurk (I hate that word–it makes me sound like a creep) to say that I know Christy & Dustin and I found you through their site and have kept reading. I love your posts and your adorable little kids.

  2. Hmmm how did I get here??? I think I was reading Shalane (Kaili’s sisters blog), then started reading Kaili’s and eventually found yours through hers and realized “hey our kids go to preschool together.”
I still read your blog (when I find time). And I love to check out your beautiful photo’s of your cute kids.

  3. 52 comments and not a boy in the bunch! Oh well.

I’ve got an ongoing Google Alert that sends anything mentioning “Summerland BC” to my inbox, and one day your blog was the alert. Normally, I’d scan-’n-delete, but this one kept me reading — good photos, funny writing…and local. It’s great.
