My Favourite Things

Last year, after watching Oprah’s “favourite things” show, I was blown away by the immense amounts of loot that she handed out.

I started thinking, “What are my favourite things?”

While the gadgets and stuff are cool (like my sweet camera), they aren’t the things that make me HAPPY. You know, the things that give you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside.

I pulled out that post and have been thinking about it again. Then I saw that Jen had redone her post on favourite things and thought I’d update mine.

So what are my favourite things?

Matthew. When I stop and think about the greatness of this man, I melt.

Graham. Everyone needs a little Graham in their lives.

Nathan. He’s so cute, I could explode from the fullness of it.

Holding a newborn, and feeling their silky smooth skin. Emily is so very, very soft.

I can’t list all of our family and friends, but nothing beats the comfort of being around those members of your circle of family and friends. The kind of comfort that they can see you without makeup and still love you.

Towels fresh out of the drier. Mmmmm….toasty.

Diet Coke. You knew it would be on my list. It makes every list.

Curling up on a rainy day with a good book. I look forward to having the opportunity to that again in about, oh, 15 years or so.

Naps. Naps rock.

Having a “No way! Me too!” moment with a friend, whether new or old.

An unprovoked hug and kiss from your child.

Listening to that favourite CD that never seems to get old.

Jumping in the lake after sitting in 40-degree (plus) weather.

Listening to Christmas carols, while decorating the tree.

Getting a phone call from that friend who’s been on your mind, but you’ve been “too busy” to call.

Spending “me” time away from my kids.

Coming home, to spend time with those same kids that I missed every moment I was gone. Well, every moment after the first few.

Running in the rain. Or walking. My knees can’t take running anymore. Sigh.

On that note, a really good workout. You know, the kind where you are dripping and just feel fantastic.

That sound that Outlook makes when I receive an email.

Being creative: making a new card, writing something that comes from deep within, taking a photo that captures the moment. Here are two of my all-time favourites of the boys:

I could go on forever…I may have to do a list of my favourite stuff, because I have favourites of those too. And we all know how much I love lists.

  4. Those are great Favorite Things. Curious, did you update the list much? I mean, was there much you added?

  5. I added Emily and a few other things (cards!), but didn’t remove anything…so they really must be my favourites :)

  6. I thought “Oh yea, I love that” to more than half your list.

Except Diet Coke. Diet is nasty :)
