I’m (almost) ready to go.
No, this is not a “blog crisis” post. You know the posts of which I speak.
The posts where I wax poetically about life outside the Internet and wonder if I should pack in the blogging towel. Then you guys all say sweet things and I am reminded why I love doing this. Then I carry on my merry way, blathering randomly and posting photos all willy-nilly.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
I still have regular blog crises, but I have been saving you from all of the drama (You are welcome). I’m trying to keep the crazy to a dull roar around here.
My backs are packed because we are heading to the Coast tomorrow for an extended long weekend. We are celebrating Christmas on the 15th (Saturday!) with Honey’s side of the family.
The boys have been eagerly poring over the pages of a Very Important Book. The pages are getting well worn from frequent use. It is a much-cherished piece of literature. I’d like to say that it’s a picture Bible, but that would be a big fat LIE.
It’s the Sears Christmas Wish Book.
They’d sleep with it if I let them.
Like Nathan’s hair? Stay tuned for more on that topic.
As much as I love Christmas (And presents! In two sleeps!) I hate driving in the winter.
Hate it, hate it, HATE IT.
It may be clear and cold down here, but it can get pretty dicey driving through those thar mountain ranges. If we do hit snow, it will be stressful. Very stressful. Because driving in a snow storm requires complete and utter silence.
And my children?
NOT SO GOOD WITH THE SILENCE.
They seem to have two volumes: Loud and LOUDER.
Pray for us. Safe roads, no snow and that the children sleep for the entire four hours of driving. I did not say that your prayers were reasonable, but there’s no harm in asking, right?
One thing that Honey is doing today to get ready for Christmas is taking the boys for a hair cut. They are actually getting more than one of their hairs cut (hardy har har).
I thought I would take some “before” photos. Graham was ever the sport.
He’s such a turkey. I threatened no Christmas presents begged and pleaded for a nicer shot. I got this one:
Right on, dude.
Then we have Nathan. Not only has his hair been sending me into fits of giggles today, check out his expression.
Hee!
Now you know why we put product in his hair. If we don’t it looks like he just emerged from a wind tunnel.
While Miss Emily’s hair has been growing, she is nowhere near the stage of needing a hair cut.
Just think of all the money we’re saving/tantrums we’re avoiding by her lack of need for a trim.
Here are a couple more of my sweet girl.
I thought I would take a break from posting so many shots of myself and give some air time to the number one beauty around here.
So that’s what’s going on here, folks.
Winter driving (Boo!), Christmas presents ten days early (Whee!), pretty girl (Sigh), and Crazy hair (Hee!)
Now I need to finish getting ready to go. Bye!

Ha! Don’t mess with that kid’s hair! It’s endearing when it’s all messy. I love it.
Merry early Christmas! Have a great time.
Comment by nabbalicious on December 12th, 2007 @ 11:15 amI always enjoy pictures of your boys. They look like such characters. And Nathan’s hair is great! And your girl? I know I’ve told you before, but she is SO gorgeous!
My husband LOVES the Christmas Wish book. He starts talking about it in July. Literally.
You’re such a lucky girl to be opening presents 10 days early! I wish I was … mostly for JUST ONE present that I have been DROOLING over for the last couple weeks.
I hate driving in the winter too. HATE IT. Four hours is not bad though … it’s better than 20!
Now that I’ve written a blog in your comment section, have a great pre-Christmas … Christmas!
Comment by Jen on December 12th, 2007 @ 11:41 amI hate going outside in the winter. I much prefer looking at a pastoral scene of whiteness from a comfy chair in a toasty house.
The second photo of Nathan SLAYS me. You should put it on the fridge or something!
Comment by Loralee on December 12th, 2007 @ 11:42 amThose boys are a hoot!!!
I’ll be praying for you as you are you drive.
Have a fun family time!
I love that Nathan is very “Wuh?” and Emily is very “Sooooo”.
Great shots as always.
Comment by Heather B. on December 12th, 2007 @ 1:04 pmI am praying for all of the things you’re asking for!
Have a wonderful trip ![]()
I will be praying for safe and stress free travels!! Have a WONDERFUL time with your family:)
Comment by Randi on December 12th, 2007 @ 1:28 pmThey still print a Sears Christmas Wish Book? I guess I assumed that with the internet that would have disappeared. But I’m kind of glad to see they still have it. I had that same loving relationship with the book as a kid that your boys do. It’s kind of a warm-fuzzy memory. Even if it was all about consumerism and a serious case of the “I want’s”.
Comment by Jill - GlossyVeneer on December 12th, 2007 @ 1:35 pmI used to dream by that Sears wish book. And one word for winter driving: Blizzaks. They grip the snow AND the ice. Fabulous!
Comment by witchypoo on December 12th, 2007 @ 2:55 pmHave a safe and wonderful trip. Our prayers are there for safe and rest full drives (for the passangers the resting that is).
I love that last shot of Emily, she’s got fabulous eyes! That little girl’ll have ‘em fallin’ in love with her by Kindergarden.
my girls are ALL about the sears wish book!
have a wonderful and safe trip!
Comment by gorillabuns on December 12th, 2007 @ 6:05 pmThe Sears Wish Book? I so remember those days! I love the hair pictures! Nathan kind of looks like he stuck his finger in a socket!!! And Miss Blue Eyes - beauty as usual! I’ll be praying that you have a safe and quiet trip! Have an awesome time!
Comment by Michele on December 12th, 2007 @ 7:12 pmFirst, awesome. love it. AMEN for blog crisis. You know i’m with ya, girl. Second, driving in the winter is horrid. HORRID. I just freak out non-stop. Yes. I’m cool and collected like that. And finally, ahhhh, the sears wish book. I remember that as a kid. too bad no fat man brings me what *I* want.
Comment by Mrs. Flinger on December 12th, 2007 @ 7:38 pmhaha…those looks are priceless! I can’t wait to see you this weekend!
Comment by daybe on December 12th, 2007 @ 7:57 pmHave a great trip!!
I totally hear you on travelling with kids. Today we did a 9-hour drive (which took almost 12 hours, because we stopped 3 times), leaving at 4am this morning. And guess what? It wasn’t so bad! I thought it would be a lot worse.
LOVE Nathan’s bed-head!!!
Comment by Hannah on December 12th, 2007 @ 11:11 pmWe’re also having our Christmas with the “other side” of the family this weekend, that being the Robinson side. And I’m with you on the winter driving ~ we only have to drive an hour, but in Alberta, the weather can change at the drop of a hat. Of course, when we fly out to Penticton, there’s another hour and a half drive to the Calgary airport so we need to hope for good weather then, too!
Safe travels and enjoy your early Christmas!
Comment by Lisa on December 13th, 2007 @ 10:01 amYou are awesome, I love this post! Your kids are so cute and the photos stellar. Oh, and your writing, so funny!
We are doing the driving thing this year too, but have 8+3+8 hours to drive. I am sooo not looking forward to this:( I think because keeping a 1 and 2 year old strapped down and happy is such a huge chore!
Save travels! Am sending up a prayer for you…..and me.
Be safe and have fun. I so look forward to the pictures you take!
Comment by Kristie on December 13th, 2007 @ 12:00 pmWe just shave the hair off our boy - he has so many cowlicks that it was useless. Two nights ago he got a military cut and boy have I fallen in love every single time I’ve seen him since.
Drive safe and I’ll be adding your journey to my prayers.
Comment by OMSH on December 14th, 2007 @ 6:07 amhave fun! enjoy!

Comment by ali on December 14th, 2007 @ 7:58 amThey’re so adorable. Also, love those awesome locks.
Take care and have fun!!
Wait - Sears has a Christmas Wish List book? How could I not have known this? Do you get it in the store, or have to sign up for it to come in the mail?
Comment by chirky on December 14th, 2007 @ 1:29 pmGreat pictures and safe travels!
My babies take such a long time until they need that first hair cut…it is nice. My two year old is getting dangerously close to hers, but I’m trying to stretch it out a little longer, if possible.
