Mommy Time

My Mom is here! We picked her up yesterday and she’s here until this coming Saturday. I’ve been looking forward to this week for a while now, and I’m pretty sure she has been too.

I haven’t lived with my Mom since I moved in with my Dad when I was twelve. That’s *ahem* twenty years ago. Yet another reminder of what an old fart I am.

I don’t see my Mom often, as she lives in Northern BC which is about an eighteen-hour drive from here. That’s the approximate time sans children. If you count the stops we would need to make with three kids, it would probably take about a month to drive there. We could fly, but that would cost about a million dollars. Last time I checked I was about, oh, a million dollars short of that goal.

She’s only been here one day, but it’s been swell. She was here when Emily was born and she can’t believe the change in our baby girl in four short months. The talking, the rolling, the bum-up-in-the-air during tummy time. Emily’s new favourite station is the Excersaucer and we love just watching her. She jumps up and down and swats at all the toys. She gums the one toy like only she can. She’s not a newborn anymore, that’s fo sho.

The boys have been enjoying Nana as well. Graham has modeled all six sets of his superhero jammies and Nathan has been smothering her with hugs and kisses.

Matthew and I often point the finger at each other when we debate who Graham gets his nuttiness from. I was secretly pretty sure that he gets it from me. I asked my Mom if I was at all kooky like Graham is. She said no. I was even MORE of a nut. Makes sense. She also said that I knew way more people in town than she did because I would introduce myself to everyone we saw in our travels. Shocking, I know.

She’s in amazement of how much Emily looks like me. She says it brings her back to when I was a baby. We pulled out my baby albums again and now that Emily is no longer a newborn, the resemblance is even more obvious. Finally! One for my team! Yay!

I’m looking forward to more of my “Mommy time” that is of a different nature than the Mommy time that consists of me grocery shopping by myself. Though I may use her Nana services to do some of that too. If you don’t hear much from me, don’t worry. I’ll just be having some of that Mommy time.

That, or I can’t log in again and my laptop has been obliterated. I have been meaning to try out Honey’s paintball gun, and I need me a target.
