So I have given my kids ice cream as a treat. To deny teaching them that treats are tasty seems unfair. Congratulations and I will pray that it will speak to many. My thing with the whole debate of "forcing your children to be Christians and not letting them know anything else"...is totally related to child rearing. We don't just let our kids decide what they should eat and when they should sleep and how they should act. We show them by our example and by setting rules and boundaries. And so with our faith...we show them by example and by bringing them with us to church and talking about it and letting them know what Jesus would have us do. How else will they know unless we tell them. We can't expect that they will just fall into the right path, because Satan is standing there trying to distract them! Prayers for our kids that they will follow God and love HIM with all that they are! Both of you did well in sharing your journeys. The way I have come to know God through the real Jesus and God's Spirit is integral to both Helen and my lives, marriage, life and work - how could we not want to acknowledge and be passionate about that? But - always gently and respectfully of others who differ, even if it's our own kids.
