It’s Not All Doom And Gloom

I had a (very sweet) reader send me a (very sweet) email yesterday. She wrote to encourage me and to tell me that she was worried about me. I am fine. I promise. April both sucked and blowed, yes, but there is so much more good than bad in my life. The problem with a blog that a tiny fraction is all that gets recorded; if that fraction tends to wallow in the crappy five percent of your life, people wonder if you are going to take a long walk off of a short pier.

While that option is tempting some days (especially during the Witching Hour) I am not making a Swan Dive any time soon. To prove my point I will share some of the funny that happens over here on a regular basis.

Yeah

Nathan: Who makes the wind blow?
Me: God does.
Nathan: I thought Daddy did.

(He does, if you count flatulence.)

Well

Nathan: I want to wear my sandals.
Emily: You don’t have any sandals, Buddy.

Sigh

Graham (in the middle of reading a book): I’m getting pretty good at reading. I really am awesome.

HAAAAAA

Me: Emily, I need you to put your dinner dishes in the sink.
Emily: Don’t worry. I’m on it.

The three

We’re picking up our puppy today. This is funny because:

1. I just started a teaching contract which means that I HAVE WORK TO DO.
2. Matthew is doing a few renovation gigs on the side, which means that HE HAS WORK TO DO.
3. We have three children, aged six and under.

Funny

My tagline still fits, nearly four years later. Life can get pretty crazy around here.

We’re just going to kick it up a notch.

Have a good weekend, folks.

What’s up with all the crotch grabbing? lol
Good luck with the new addition! I love puppies but yea, they can be a lot of work. At least you have a house with a yard! That should help (I live in a 3rd floor apartment).

Ok, Angella, for about the hundredth time, your blog has officially made me YEARN for kids of my own! I know it’s not all fun & games, but good and bad, it sounds like an awesome ride! :) Thanks for inspiring me and making me laugh! Good luck with the puppy. Can’t wait for pics. Whoo-hoo! :)

  20. Angella, I just want to tell you how much I marvel at you and appreciate how you just PUMP it out. For your family, for your work I don’t even fully know about, and for Daily Grommet. But this puppy could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Well….it would be for an ordinary mortal. But you are no ordinary mortal.

And….I can relate to the 5% whine factor in a blog becoming out of proportionately important in that medium, compared to your total life. I have had that issue when I use my blog to vent. (But come to think of it if I whined as much on my blog as I do in real life, it would be WAY more than 5% of the time! So the blog is tame.)
