It’s A Beautiful Day

Hey guys? Remember this photo that I posted in October showing the valley I drive through to get into town?

Prairie Valley

Wasn’t that pretty?

Well, it snowed on Tuesday. Here is what it looks like now.

Prairie Valley (snowy)

This would have been a great HDR shot, except I did not have my tripod with me.

**Smacks self on the forehead, runs outside to put the tripod in the minivan.**

Winter has officially arrived. Here is further proof for you. Remember this photo of our patio set?

Patio Furniture

Oh sweet, sweet summer. I miss thee.

It now looks like this.

Won’t be eating outside anytime soon

Anyone want to come over for a barbecue and dinner on the deck?

No?

SHOCKING.

And remember the photo I took of the lantern on the deck for a Foto Friday?

The lantern

Here is what it looks like now:

Snowy lantern

Pretty, but BRRRRR.

I was all ready to start in my winter grump-fest and spout about my disdain for all things winter (except for Christmas).

But then?

Miss Emily decided to up and show me one of her new skillz. Her brothers had both mastered this before their first birthdays. While she is unstoppable, she has been lacking confidence in becoming completely independent. Despite the fact that we knew she was capable.

Yesterday afternoon she upped and grew up on us.

It was a beautiful day.

  1. Oh, it just looks SOOOOOO beautiful!!!! I wish it snowed here. I’m sure if it did, I would hate it (at least after the first few days). But it doesn’t, so I wish it did!! We have to drive 4 hours to see the snow – and then it’s at a ski resort, not on our patio. I just think snow-covered THINGS are so pretty!

    And WTG Miss Emily!!

  2. As much as I hate snow (really ice when driving), I do appreciate the beauty of it. Great photos as always.

Good luck with three walkers now :) Loved the video – too cute!

  5. Love the winter/summer pictures. It’s amazing how the same space can vary so much by the season. Perhaps that’s why I crave variety so much.

However, I could do without the minus 25.

Yay for Emily. I adore those first few steps!

    :-)

  8. Can’t watch the video at work :-(

But LOVE the pictures. Snow is so very pretty. Until I’m shoveling my car out or spending 2 hours getting home instead of half an hour.

Other than that, I like snow. Do you guys get to ski much?

  9. YES! What a beautiful day! What a champ!

  10. Go, Miss Emily! That was totally exciting for me to watch, and I’ve never even met you. :-) Annalie walked late too (14 months), but when she did she went from nothing to walking EVERYWHERE unassisted in one day.

Life begins…in the fast lane…as if it isn’t fast enough already. Way to go, Emily. There’s no stopping you now.
Angella, give her a few days and see if she’s ready to bust a few moves like her brothers did a few days ago.

Wow! Great walking, Emily! Ben is just starting to want to pull up on the couch so it may not be too long before my last baby is up and mobile! BTW, you can see the roof of my house in the snowy prairie valley pic!

Ya know what I think is the most beautiful thing in that video? The obvious love that her daddy has for her. It was so amazing to watch that connection between him and her…and you can’t even see her face. Breathtaking.
