Every night after supper, Matthew and the kids have “ice cream”. I use quotes because Honey is the only one who eats real vanilla ice cream. (Topped with cookies, extra chocolate chips, and corn syrup (!))(I think he adds the syrup so I won’t take a bite.)(He does not like to share his food with me.) The kids get “ice cream”, which is low fat yogurt blended with fruit and frozen into a popsicle. They love them, and do not know that they are eating something that is good for them. Shhhhh.
We were out of Honey’s ice cream so we thought we would treat everyone to the real deal at the ice cream parlour in town. It was a beautiful day, as you can see.
The dudes cracked me up because they did not choose their ice cream based on the flavour. Nope. They chose it based on the colour. Graham’s favourite colour is red, so he got Strawberry. Strawberry is an ice cream flavour that I strongly dislike, but Graham was diggin’ it.
Nathan’s favourite colour is green, so he got mint chocolate chip.
I was pretty happy about that as it is one of my favourite flavours. I might have snuck a bite. Or five.
The dudes were busy concentrating on the yumminess.
It was so good that G licked the bowl.
Emily did not get a bowl of her own, but shared Daddy’s chocolate/peanut butter cone.
Oh, sure. He shares his food with her. Emily’s finger. Daddy is wrapped around it.
I noticed a narrow little green wall across the street and thought it would make a great backdrop for photos. We traipsed across the crosswalk and lined the kids up.
Posers. The dudes were distracted by the people and the cars going by. Then Nathan had to pee.
Emily was still workin’ it, and Graham was, I don’t know, maybe remembering the delicious ice cream?
I asked Nathan to hold it for a few seconds so I could take a few quick shots.
Dude! I was not being literal when I said to “hold it”. Not sure what the deal is with the other two. I snapped a few more.
There are more, but they are along the same lines of ridiculousness. I told Honey he could take the dudes back across the street to the bathroom. I held my hand out to Emily and asked her if we should go. Her answer? “No.”
I took the opportunity to shoot her solo while the dudes were twinkling. She started with the “cheese” pose.
Then pulled out the “Sears” pose.
Then she started having fun.
See?
She’s a natural.
One more for the road.
I just love her.
We returned home for a rousing game of “baseball” (the dudes are getting good at hitting), and just running around the yard. The weather is finally getting to where it should have been for the past month. It has given me comfort that all of my complaining about winter was valid and justifiable.
Life is just better (and happier) outside. That is why my weekend plans are to be outside as much as possible. And you?

So! Cute!
If the weather improves, I will definitely be outside as much as possible. Otherwise I’ll be watching some movies, and cleaning my house in anticipation of my aunt coming to stay with me for a few weeks. Reading, sleeping, and watching hockey playoffs will be high up there on the priority list as well.
Enjoy your weekend!

Mine will also choose based on color…especially the soft serve that gets blended with flavours. I’m going to have to try the frozen yogurt thing…although the boys already eat so much yogurt I’ll be going through yogurt by the gallon!
I love this weather too. Well, maybe not right now as we are in tornado watches, but, spring is here!

Comment by Lisa on May 2nd, 2008 @ 6:45 pmSongsinblue beat me to it—I canNOT believe how tall Emily is getting! After the kids are done growing, I’ll bet that Emily will be taller than at least one of the guys. Of course, I don’t have any money to lay down on that b/c I blew all my cash buying bubble-gum ice cream.
GREAT photos, Angella. As always ![]()

We’re going to San Antonio for the weekend, to spend some time with friends and family. We’re thrilled but we’re not excited about five hours in the car and filling up the car 83 times.
