Huh

I received a comment from Jean on my Friday post that said, “Found you from a link who said it was wonderful.” My curiosity was piqued; it’s nice to hear that someone thinks you are wonderful. Then I was checking my little stat counter yesterday and saw that a bunch of people had linked to me from Blogging Baby.

What the?

So I headed over to see what was going on. I always read the amazing Kristin Scott of Tall n’ Lucky fame. She’s a gifted writer. She has her personal site, writes for Blogging Baby, and just started working for BlogHer. Could you imagine getting PAID to write and to blog? I can only dream that I could ever do this for pay.

Not only is she, like, a total blogebrity, she hangs out with blogebrities. She just spoke at a conference this weekend in Calgary alongside Dooce. If I have to tell you who Dooce is, then you are likely reading this because you Googled a card game…or maybe a bodily fluid.

Anyway, she had written about me. Here’s the link if you want to see it with thine own eyes. Here is what she wrote:

Dutch Blitz is a relatively new find for me, and her blog title alone makes me think of cobblestone streets and twisty alleys and window boxes with trailing vines adorning lopsided canal houses. Amsterdam is my favourite city in the world, so how could I not love Dutch Blitz? Angella is Mom to two boys and a baby girl and today she has a list of 100 random observations. I love reading these lists, partially because they make my chaotic mind feel slightly more organized, partly because you can tell so much about someone from a list, can’t you?

I sat here and blinked slowly a few times. I called Matthew over to show him, because he gets me and how cool this is. I feel like the popular kid just asked me to join her for lunch. I just hope I don’t dribble Diet Coke down the front of my white shirt. It’s been known to happen.

I’m feeling really “Aw, shucks” right now, with a bit of humble pie thrown in.

***

For those of you who only come to see pictures, I won’t disappoint. Or maybe I will, once you see the ones I took. Actually, Matthew took them.

I had a few months of digital photos developed this week. I now have approximately two years worth of photos (many, MANY photos) to put into albums. I’m sure it will happen before I retire. Or before I attempt a trip to the theatre with my kids again. Both events could happen around the same time.

As I was choosing the photos to develop, I realized yet again that there aren’t many pictures of ME. The last ones taken were the day Emily was born. Here and here. While they are beautiful because she came that day, I hadn’t showered and my curls had a frizz that was out of this world.

So…I told Honey he needed to take pictures. Of course I had some, ahem, constructive criticism as he’s not a picture taker. He told me that he would definitely be getting me a tripod for Christmas so that I could take all of the self-portraits I wanted. I suggested he get me a fan while he’s at it, and then I could take some really sweet shots of myself.

Here are a couple of my favourites from that photo shoot:

This is all too funny. I started reading on occasion about Tall ‘n’ Lucky via Amanda’s links…and found Dooce there as well, when I first started blogging. I found it cool that the two of them were together right in Calgary (I should have gone!) and now you’re even quoted by her on blogging baby!! It’s totally cool! I think it’s the same as I feel when one of my photos reaches Explore on flickr!
YAY!! Maybe you will get paid one day, cuz you are entertaining!

  6. I am so not a blogebrity; I’m a total dork who spreads her life all over the Internet like a bad smell.

    I don’t mention writers I don’t like, so the pleasure’s all mine!
