You realize that fall is truly here when the air gets crisp, the leaves start to turn…and your kitchen is bombarded with fruit flies.  We mix the following concoction in a bowl next to the sink: 2 cups water, 2 Tbsp white sugar, 2 Tbsp white vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. Before you know it you will have some Fruit Fly Soup. Not for consumption, unless that actually sounds tasty to you.

THANK YOU! This is officially the most useful blog post I’ve ever read. My fruit flies have been driving me to teeth-gnashing and garment- rending.

I should point out that, while this method is effective in killing fruit flies, it doesn’t actually tame them. And dead flies do no tricks.

THANK YOU! This morning I decided that we had to move to get away from the fruit flies. This will save me so much time, now that I don’t have to pack.
