A year ago, I had a four-month-old baby girl. Her “tricks” were rolling, clasping her hands, and smiling.
Fast forward one year.
I now have a toddler who is doing new things every. single. day.
New words, new skills, new “tricks”.
Like being a monkey, for instance.
(Do you like her new runners? She is tremendously excited about them. As well as her burgeoning gymnastics skills.)
Part of me longs for and misses that sweet little baby. An even greater part of me, however, is thoroughly enjoying getting to know the little girl that is emerging.
She is pretty neat. I like her.
A lot.

I can see why you like her!!! And I love the monkey picture.

Awwww!!!
WHERE IS ALL THE SNOW IN THAT PICTURE OF HER HANGING OFF THE CAR (van?)???
I’m missing the non-moving stage, but I’m also liking (okay loving) the new things Lili does every day.
Your little girl gets more and more beautiful with every picture you show of her!

It’s a bittersweet feeling, watching them grow up. You miss the previous stages but look forward to the next ones.
I have to say that I’m excited to watch Emily grow up through the words & pictures on your blog! She’s a sweetie.

I love that you call them “runners.” I hate that as we get older we forget how fun it is to hang on and from random things. Probably because we realize how bad it hurts to fall. But, still. I miss hanging from monkey bars and trees and chandeliers. (Just kidding about that last one. Mostly.)

Good grief she’s growing up quickly. That monkey photo is cute. Even though she’s not a baby anymore her little face has hardly changed, those eyes are still fantastic!
