Happy New Year!

How’s THAT for an original post title? I just can’t help my natural creativity.

I’ve been wallowing in the Winter Blahs for the past week or so. I felt them, I recognized them, I analyzed them. All that dwelling on them didn’t make them go away; it just made them worse. I have not been feeling myself at all, and my thoughts were all a jumble. Not good fodder for blog posts, yo. A little Faulty Towers ditty came to mind that a friend of mine used to sing.

Always look on the bright side of life…

Which is what I usually do. So, yesterday, I started crawling out of the Winter Blahs. I have absolutely no control over the weather (cold, gray, snowy, Blah!), so no point on moaning about it. Instead, I decided to focus on what I am thankful for. Because I’ve got it good. Real good. I’ll even make a list because we all know that lists make me happy.

1. I am married to this man:

He is Wonder Husband, Super Dad, and Manly Man (plus a whole lot more) all rolled into one. I can’t imagine how I scored so huge, but I’ll take it. I hope you all have found (or will find) someone who fits with you so perfectly. It’s fantastic.

2. I get to be Mom to this crazy kid:

I could have an entire website devoted to Grahamisms. Except I have two other kids. And a husband. And a life. I barely have time for this site. How would I keep up another? I can’t, so he’ll just have to keep making sporadic appearances here.

3. I get to be Mom to this nutty kid:

He’s got a quirkiness all his own. That, mixed with the mischievous twinkle in his eye, makes for one interesting kid. I’ll keep his appearances on this site continuing, just to give you a glimpse of his sweetness.

4. I get to be Mommy to this beautiful baby:

Now, the boys were “good” babies (ate, slept, didn’t fuss), but she’s taken it up a notch. Or two. She naps well, sleeps looooong stretches at night, and is starting to get real fun. You know, smiling, cooing, “talking”. She’s absolutely perfect. Except when she poops up to her armpits. But that’s nothing that a bath and a load of laundry can’t fix. I’m sure she’ll give us a run for our money in about 2 years, but for now there is not one complaint.

5. I have a wonderful home, and we have a lot of fun living in the sticks. Our house is one full of love and laughter. And lots of wood. We’re country folks. At least we’re not country bumpkins. Or maybe we are, and we just don’t know it yet. Don’t tell me if we are – I’d like to remain oblivious.

6. We have also been blessed with a cute little cabin to go to. We thought we might have to give it up, but got some great news last week and it will be ours for as long as we want it. I’ll spare you the details, but we are doing the Happy Dance over here.

7. We also have the most amazing family and friends that one could hope for. That includes YOU my Internets. You always say the sweetest things and make my day.

While I’m doing lists, how about what I’m looking forward to in this new year?

1. SUMMER! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I really should move to Mexico. Or California. Or Australia.

2. Making lists (oh, I’m so funny)

3. My birthday. Only 19 more days, my peeps. Yes, it means that I’m getting older, but I’m OK with that. And the thirties have been even better than my twenties. Seriously. It’s not just a saying. That, and I’m a firm believer that your birthday is YOUR day, and a special one. And so is mine. My very own day. Yippee!

4. Jen is having a baby. So are many others, but Jen’s will be related to me. I got to feel the baby kick on Christmas Day, and that feeling never grows old. I think it’s a GIRL, but time will tell.

5. Many other things, but this post is long enough.

I hope you all have had a great Christmas holiday, and have a Happy New Year. Here’s to a great 2007!
