I’m not referring to the happiness brought to me by my three kids. Yes, they bring me the greatest joy that I could have ever imagined on a daily basis. Almost on a per minute basis is this joy that they bestow upon me. Why is it, then, that they can also drive me so absolutely CRAZY the very next minute? The Great Mystery of the Universe, I guess.
No, this post is about the things that have made me happy today. And what do you know? There were three different things. Let me list them for you. Ooh, a list. They make me happy too…but not enough to get a bullet point this time.
1. My Dad called this morning. We had just talked two nights ago, so I was surprised to hear his voice. When we had talked two nights ago he told me that he had just read my sister Dayna’s post (read it – she cracks me up) and had gotten a good laugh.
What??? He used his computer for something other than playing Freecell? Not quite. He told me that his lady Gail checks Dayna’s blog and would call him in when there was an update. I told him to click on my link if he wanted to see the kids. “I never thought of that!” was his reply, and he said he’d check it out soon.
They had the day off together and had spent an hour or so perusing this site. He called to tell me that he thinks I’m a great writer. He told me I should be published. I told him I wouldn’t even know where to start, and he told me I should get on it. He said that anyone who can make him both laugh and cry is worth publishing. Aw, shucks, Dad. My writing is OK, but not quite publish-worthy. You may be just a teensy bit biased with your critique. I’ll take the compliment as a day brightener though!
2. Emily had her six-month checkup today. 28 inches long and 17 pounds, 13 ounces. That’s my girl! The doctor asked developmental questions and observed Miss “fast hands” Emily in action. She then referred to her as “advanced”. I’ve been calling her that since Day One, but I may be a little biased. It’s nice to have a doctor say so as it makes my Mommy heart sing.  She also thinks it won’t be long until Missy Mae is crawling. Good thing we bought a new vacuum. Now I just need Honey to, ahem, teach me how to use it.
3. I’ve been a little distracted lately, due to a series of events and their possible consequences. Most of my close friends know the details (and if you don’t, then it’s because we haven’t talked this week), but the Internet is not the place to post said details. I’ll just have you know that I had a blood test done today.
Every time the phone rang this afternoon, I jumped to answer it.
We headed out this afternoon to Travis and Karen’s house for supper, so I called the doctor’s office. The nurse said she’d check the computer and call the house and leave a message. I kept checking and checking (and checking and checking) our messages. Finally! There was a message!
“Hi Angella. Just calling to let you know that the result was negative.”
I’M NOT PREGNANT.
Could. You. IMAGINE! If I was…
There was a chance, and it looked like it might have been the case, but I’m NOT. I’m all for babies and all but, um, I HAVE one! THREE actually, and I don’t want another one right now. Or ever, really. I’m open to adopting a fourth one day, but we all know how hard my last pregnancy was. Never mind the fact that my baby is only SIX MONTHS OLD. If pregnancy were to happen, we would deal. But it’s not, and now I can relax my shoulders a bit and stop with all of the “what if” scenarios.
Phew!
And there was rejoicing in the land. Cue the choirs.

I’d sing..but I’m sure you’d rather not hear that!! Glad to hear you had a happy day!!

Oh Happy Day! I would be rejoicing about the -ve pregnancy test too!! LOL! But the other things were also nice and I’m glad they made you happy

PHEW! I knew the odds were slim but I am glad you can relax (and have that mondo glass of wine with dinner tonight!).

Too funny! Glad to hear Emily is growing up healthy!

Oh man, pregnant when your current baby is only 6 months would definitely make me cry!! I’m glad you got the negative result and that it helped to make your day!
[Reply]
Phewft! I had that very same distraction the last few days myself. I’m so glad for the negative confirmation this morning! Although my babe is 11 months, that’s still a little crazy.

Glad your day turned out so well!
Way to go Emily!

I’d be ecstatic for you, you know.

Oh Angella, I hardly even know what to say, except I am singing for you sister!!! LOL
Glad your 3′s were good to you!!!

Hey there sister friend !!! Sorry I haven’t been able to comment, our computer is down AGAIN!! I can see your blog but it won’t let me log in or comment on blogs. It SUCKS!!!! Time for a new one, I am working on James for that. LOL!! All of the kids are as beautiful as always. I can’t believe how big Miss Emily is getting. She is 14 months younger than Haylei and only about 8 lbs lighter!!!
I am glad your day was so good. Ours was good too, we went for dinner with Dad and Gail last night, it was nice to see them again.
Love you

What a great day! Isn’t it the best when your parents give you such high praise – talk about heart singing.
And glad you got the news you were hoping for
[Reply]
WTF!?!?! from your sister who is completly out of the loop.
but I’m glad you’re happy either way! That would’ve been a little crazy!
I miss you guys!

Those kinds of events are always so exciting/terrifying. I’m glad that your day was a good one, and that you got the news you wanted.
[Reply]
Ahh! You’re a PRO! You could handle it!!!

Glad to hear everything is okay. It can be a bit scarey when that happens when you are least expecting it.
You should think about writing. You are definitally great at it. We had a lady come into our class to talk about publishing. If you are interested let me know.

The best things happen in three”s.

Anyone who’s anyone can tell from the pictures that Emily MUST be advanced… but of course you DID already know that.

That does sound like a great, great day! It is really great when our parents take the time to encourage us, and so great when a weight, (even a what if one), gets lifted off our shoulders. Hope you can continue to enjoy your threes!
