Five Questions: The Interview

I was driving into town this morning and wishing that someone, anyone would tag me with a meme. The drama of this past week, coupled with the frigid weather that has blown in and kept us inside (and stir crazy), has left my brain a pile of mush. Clarification: it has been left a bigger pile of mush than it usually is. Or maybe it’s a big steaming pile of poo.

Anyways.

Something even better than a regular meme came along. Whoorl has asked me the five questions that are eating her up inside. Or maybe they’re just five random questions. Either way, you have something to read as your reward for stopping by. Lucky you! If you want to play, read the instructions at the bottom and I’ll interview you.

1. Would you consider having a fourth child?

Oh, wow. What a loaded question. Yes. And no. Next question.

Kidding. Here’s the truth of it. I would really, really like to not be pregnant again. My body has suffered enough. I would, however, be very much open to adopting a fourth one day when Emily is older. This has been on our hearts since before we got pregnant with Emily. This past week the news has had a special series on the number of kids in BC who are in need of a permanent home. We may be one of those homes someday.

If I were to get pregnant (despite all contraceptive attempts) before “we” have a permanent procedure to eliminate that possibility (procedure is booked), I would be a little stressed out, but happy (of course!). We would adjust and be just as excited to meet a fourth baby as we were to meet our first, and second, and third.

2. Beach or mountains?

Oh, man! That really is a tough one. Can I pick both? We live close to both the beach and the mountains. If I had to pick ONE, I would pick the beach. Mountains are pretty, but I’m more of a beach bum that a mountain climber. If I could go to the beach all year round (ala both Whoorl and SAJ), I would be perfectly happy with that situation. California dreamin’…

3. Do you have a secret talent?

I can drink copious amounts of Diet Coke without going into caffeine shock. But that’s hardly a talent, and it’s definitely not a secret.

I can juggle. Seriously. I’m not referring to the whole “juggling” family/work/friends balancing act. Give me three objects that are the same size and shape, and I’ll act like the clown I truly am.

4. What is the last thing you do before you get into bed?

I have a shower every night before I get into bed. It makes me all warm, and toasty. And clean. I had a co-worker once tell me how after two nights, her husband’s form could be seen on the sheets from how dirty he was. Ewwwwww. Lucky for me, Matthew likes the nighttime shower too. I also shower in the morning. I don’t wash my hair every time. It’s naturally dry, as well as curly. If I were to wash it that much it would break off in large clumps.

I then pop in a pair of ear plugs. If I’m woken up in the night, I cannot get back to sleep. Sometimes it takes hours. My kids crash around in their sleep and kick walls and such. Then there are the chickens and the #@%$% rooster that starts crowing before ANYONE ELSE ON THE PLANET IS AWAKE.

5. What kind of cheese do you prefer on your burger, if any?

First of all, can I address the burger? While take-out burgers are tasty, they generally leave me running for the bathroom. I also think that frozen patties from the grocery store are just plain wrong. We get our beef from a rancher. We order half of a cow, and get it cut into what we want. The beef tastes phenomenal, and it’s totally natural to boot.

Now for the cheese. I love cheese. Pretty much all kinds of cheese. Except processed cheese. You will not find Cheez Whiz or processed cheese slices in my house. Sick. Usually we just use cheddar. I like cheddar on my burger, but I often opt for a cheese-less burger. I have to keep my girlish figure somehow. It also frees up some calories for my chocolate intake.

That all being said, there are times when a McDonald’s cheeseburger completes me. And then empties me shortly thereafter.

So! If you would like to join in on the interviewing party, follow these directions:

1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me”. Adding that you liked my answers above will win you bonus points and virtual Diet Coke and chocolate.

2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. I get to pick the questions.

3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.

5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

If you’re too shy (or busy, or cool, etc.) to play, why don’t you ask me that burning question about me that’s been keeping you awake at night? Those of you already playing can ask too.  I’ll do a post to answer them so you can get caught up on your sleep. I’ll have something to write about, and you can cut back on your caffeine. It’s a win-win situation.

  3. Oh pick me, pick me! As always, your answers were witty, you always come up interesting tidbits :-)

Can I just have the chocolate though, diet coke does to me what take out burgers do to you!

    Maybe that was TMI?

  4. You are going to be a busy busy lady making up intervew questions. I wanted to join the fun when I read Whoorl’s blog but I don’t think that she reads me, so it could be a challenge. I have seen your comments… will you interview me? Then my further question for #1, will you only adopt from BC, or would you go international?

  5. being the amazing sister I am, I knew most of the answers to those questions, but still enjoyed reading it(mostly because it was in a list type format).

As if I’m not busy enough already, I thought it would be kinda cool to see what questions you would ask me.
so don’t hold back… INTERVIEW ME!

  10. I’m totally in love with your new layout, and with the snappy SAJ banners!! WordPress seems to be working well for you. Makes me wonder if I should do the big switch…

Chickens and roosters? I know that must drive you insane, but I would enjoy some clucking for a day or two. I miss the sound of birds chirping in the morning. Not many songbirds live in Vegas.

Whoorl sent me questions on which I’m presently working, but I’d like to field some from you. I’m running low on blog topics as of late (and/or I’m feeling lazy, coupled with computer problems). Interview me, please!! :) Thanks in advance :)

  11. You are definitely going to be busy making up questions… I’m sure you can get away with doing some strategic doubling up. Interview me?

I really enjoyed your answers, especially aboutbaby #4, the baby question is sort of a never ending one until you end it, if you know what I mean. I would also like it if you interviewed me, but I must confess it’s because I’m curious what you would ask me, posting it like this though does hold me accountable to answering! I do have a question though that I’ve always wanted to ask you: Is your current career the one you’ve always wanted to have or do you have a dream career lurking in your daydreams?

  15. Great answers, Angella. You can interview me if you get the time.

My question for you… Some people collect Beannie Babies. Do you collect anything?

  16. I’d love to be interviewed but gonna have to pass for now….I’m knee deep in a blogging “to do” list as it is. I’m curious to know more about your adoption thoughts if you feel comfortable posting more about that sometime. I’d love to look at international adoption more seriously and its something we’ve been praying about. The jury is out at the moment for us though :)

  17. Interview me!! Those were great questions from Whoorl!

  18. If you’re not tired up with coming up with questions for everyone that asked, I’d love you to interview me. You’ve got that “je ne sais quoi” that makes me wonder what your questions would be.

  19. I know this is a bit old, but… I was recently interviewed and I decided to track back the source of my interview as far as I could, and eventually stopped with I got to 10. I didn’t realize how widespread the interview was, and was also intrigued by how diverse the blogs that I found were. I’m in a bit of a blogging slump right now, so I thought I’d ask the 10 blogs that I found to interview me and see what happens. You’re number 2.
