FAQ

Here is the much anticipated FAQ page.

Ha!

Let’s see what I can come up with, shall we?

Who the heck are you and where the heck are you?

My name is Angella, and I have a nice About page that sums me up (it also links to the post about how I met Honey). I live in the Okanagan Valley of beautiful British Columbia. The Okanagan is the most beautiful place in all of Canada. Added bonus? There are a lot of wineries.

Canada is the best country on the planet, for a vast array of reasons. One of which being that you don’t have to pay thousands of dollars to have a baby. Good thing, since I have had three of them. That leaves a lot more money in our budget for necessities like shelter, food, and Diet Coke.

You talk a lot about Diet Coke. How much DO you drink in a day? If you run out, do you go all manic and crazy?

I prefer the sweet nectar of DC in bottle form, and I usually have two a day. Some days require a third (ala those three children I bore), but then my head starts floating above my body and I enter another dimension. I try to keep it to two a day. Unless I feel like floating. Wheeeeee!

And I have not run out. Ever. Because I keep about a week’s worth in the fridge downstairs out of fear of what would happen if my supply were depleted. I don’t think it would be pretty.

Do you still eat oatmeal every morning for breakfast?

Yep. I make it in the microwave with skim milk, then sprinkle it with Splenda and cinnamon. It is accompanied by a hazelnut latte. I even bring the makings along when we go and stay with family.

Heaven forbid I eat toast or cereal.

However. On work weekends away, I mix it up. I go to Starbucks and get an oat fudge bar…and a hazelnut latte.

How long have you been blogging and how did you get started?

I started blogging in July 2005. Here’s my two-year blogiversary post giving the deets.

Have you always been interested in photography?

Yes.

I have photo album upon photo album, starting in high school. When I got my CA in 2000, my present to myself was the Canon Rebel 35mm camera. Three years ago Matthew brought me into the digital age when he bought me a Canon Powershot for Christmas. I soon got frustrated with it’s limitations (like taking the photo three seconds after the really cool shot happened) so he bought me the Canon EOS Rebel XT in December 2005, complete with a guide book. I only started dabbling with the manual settings last summer, however, and am having SO MUCH FUN!

So much fun, in fact, that I have started doing a number of different photography gigs and started my photography site.  Coming this summer: WEDDINGS!  Talk about fun!

You can find what I shoot with HERE.  My current love is an 28-70mm f/2.8. It rocks.

What is your secret to staying so trim?

I don’t eat.

Kidding!

Here’s the post I did about it.

How/when did you become a Christian?

This also deserves more space for a more detailed story. The crib notes version: I was thirteen, and visiting my Dad and step mom for the summer. While I had always believed in God, I finally understood who Jesus is (Not “was”. Who He IS). A big thanks to my step mom Shona for loving me and being so faithful to share her faith with me.

This story is a good way to get to know the path I have been on.

How did you pick your kids’ names?

Graham was my step mom’s maiden name. If not for her, I may not have ever become a Christian, and gone to church, and therefore met Matthew…so we thought we would honour her by naming our first son after her. Graham shares the same middle name as Matthew (Jonathon). If Graham had been a girl, his name would have been Naomi.

If Nathan had been a girl, we were still going with Naomi for a girl’s name. We had a hard time thinking of a boy’s name that we liked that was not already taken by friends or family. I think we settled on Nathan the week before we had him. He has Matthew as his middle name, so he is also named after Daddy.

When pregnant with Emily, we decided to ditch the Naomi plan, and it sounded too close to Nathan. We love classic names (obviously) and really liked the name Emily. She has my middle name (Dian), just as I have the same middle name as my Momma. It’s pronounced like Diane, but has no e.

I have no idea why it is spelled like that. Just like I have no idea why my first name has 2 L’s. Maybe it’s just because I’m special. We’ll go with that.

Random questions in list form:

Favorite cheesy song? When I see you smile. By Bad English. I wish I was kidding. Maybe I love it because I relate to the hair.

Least favorite food? Pork chops, pork roast, ham…most things pig. The occasional slice of bacon, however, is unbelievable.

Most irrational fear? That I will run out of Diet Coke.

Do you like to play Dutch Blitz? I played it once. Years ago. But it was FUN. These days? Who has time for board games?

What skincare products do you use? L’Oreal. But I’m wrinkly. Suggestions welcome.

Is it possible to bake your Award-Winning Chocolate Chip Cookies without eating half a batch before they’ve cooled down? Nope. It’s not possible.

Do your boys ever fight? Sometimes. But then we taser them and they stop.

What is your back up dinner, standby if you will? Matthew will eat KD. I will usually heat up a soup that’s in the freezer or throw together a salad. Lame and boring, I know.

What is your favourite chocolate treat? PURE chocolate? Brownie Bites. They are phenomenal. Really. As for chocolate bars? I am a Smarties girl.

If you could only eat one dessert ever again, what would it be? Shortbread caramel squares. Make them. You won’t be disappointed. They are another reason that I love Karen so much.

If you don’t see an answer you are looking for, email me. This is a work in progress. Just like my life.
