It is not a secret that summer is my favourite season. And that Winter is my most hated season. Fall, um, falls somewhere in between. The mornings are cool (OK, COLD), but the afternoons can be warm enough to venture out in long-sleeved shirts or maybe just a light fleece. With the sun shining and the vast array of colours that abound, fall can be pretty great in its own right.
Yesterday was proof of that fact. It rained a bit in the morning, but in the afternoon the sun came out and it was a stellar fall day. Emily went for a nap and Matthew was working. Usually I will take that opportunity to “get stuff done” as the boys are great at watching TV playing independently so I can cross a few of the billion things off of my list.
Instead, I tossed the boys onto our quad and drove down to the creek.
(Yes, I drive a quad. Did you also know that have my motorcycle licence? I owned a little Ninja crotch rocket before I was married. I will ride again…)
The creek is but a five minute walk from our house, and alongside it is a wide gravel path that used to have train tracks on it. It is now part of the Trans-Canada Trail. We spend a lot of time down there. The kids love to throw sticks and rocks (And now leaves!) into the water. And I like to take photos. It is a good combination.
Graham was not enjoying himself, however.
Nope.
Neither was Nathan.
Utterly miserable.
Here they are pretending to watch TV.
I think they are watching Treehouse.
And here is their imaginary TV.
If that is not a big screen, then I don’t know what is.
Seriously, though, it was a great outing.
Upon our return I took some shots around the yard.

I was telling Honey that I feel consumed lately with photography. In a good way. I want to learn more, and do more and get better at it. He is fully supportive and encouraging. As per usual.
I don’t think I could ever make a living at it (and don’t think I would want to try) but it sure is a great hobby. I enjoy it, I am recording memories for our family, and have a creative outlet that seems to come pretty easily.
It doesn’t hurt to have such cute subjects, either.
This afternoon I am going back outside and then cooking a hearty fall meal. Fall isn’t so bad. It’s nowhere near as awful as winter. Winter sucks. And blows. Stay tuned for regular winter grumblings by yours truly, sure to happen soon enough.
Hope your weekend is cozy and swell. What are you doing?

Love the pictures!
Fall is my favorite time of the year, if the weather in nice that is. Right now it is not. Gerrr.

Between this and Foto Friday, my chest hurts with missing the Nikon that I borrowed to go to Europe.

Tonight we’re having Rouladin, with mashed potatoes (from the garden!) and veggies

Beautiful pictures! I too am dying to learn more about photography, it’s overwhelming though…Where to begin?!? Have a great “fall” day!

We’re going to the Rebels game tonight and enjoying the fall weather here, i.e., no snow yet, double-digit temperatures!! Oh, and patiently waiting…

We are having a beautiful spring day here. The breeze is still a bit nippy but the sun is shining and it’s a great day to do something fun outside with the kids – so I can take photos ;o)

Awesome photos Angella…. I love taking photos too and have been learning a great deal from a photographer friend of mine!
As you go into fall, we are enjoying spring and being back at the beach again. We have spent the last 2 days swimming and playing… I love how tired the girls get after a few ours at the beach…
Enjoy your yummy fall food…

HI!
I think Fall is my favorite time also. The only redeeming quality about winter is Christmas.
Beautiful pictures (AGAIN). I can never get enough of the amazing photos posted around here. Photography is wonderful and a good obsession to have.

nope. cute subjects don’t help at all.

Wow, Graham and Nathan look alike in those last two photos! I know what you mean about feeling consumed by photography. Sometimes I just have to take pictures.
I went to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert tonight with girlfriends, that’s what I did with my weekend, thanks for asking.
It was fantastic.

Great pictures!! And cute kiddos, as usual!
I love Fall (or Autumn, as we call it) but like you, Summer is my favourite season. It’s still quite cold here in Autumn and Summer has the temperatures I like (early/mid 20′s … celsius).

Those are some stellar pictures, how awesome to live that close to such amazing landscape! Personally, I love fall and winter, but am still learning to love them as a parent. We’ll probably do a lot more indoor stuff than I want to admit to, or maybe not depending on how much energy I have after this little one arrives.

Wow you’re pictures just keep getting better, how is that possible they were so fantastic to begin with.
This weekend I’m going to a farm with my sister and nieces. They have a haunted barn, haunted hay rides and a corn maze. I really enjoy fall, I like the in between stage of wearing jeans and a nice sweater where the air is crisp but the sun is warm.

I too love Fall. It is such a welcome relief from the heat, here in Texas. It is starting to get cooler now and it has been very beautiful this weekend. It is Sunday morning here and after church, I plan to take my son to this pumpkin patch and maze here in a neighboring town. Should be lots of fun, and of course, I’m taking my camera!
Check out the maze at their website!! It is HUGE. http://www.hispumpkinpatch.com

I love your pictures and I’m learning so much from you! Now I just have to spend the time to actually DO it!
BTW, I tagged you for 8 Random Things!

Mike rides a motorcycle and I’m determined to learn one day. His mom just got her motorcycle license, as well.

You’ve probably already posted about this but I’m going to ask anyway. What is the camera that you use?
I have a Pentax ZX-7 that I bought in 1999. It’s a great 35mm SLR but now it’s time to move into the digital age. I’ve been begging my husband for a digital SLR and I’ve finally wore him down to buy me one for Christmas this year. I’m debating between a Nikon D40x and a Pentax K10D since I already have a couple Pentax lenses.
I’d love to know what your using since you get such great quality pics!
I have the Canon EOS Rebel XT, and mostly use an 18-200mm lens. Not what you are debating between
I have many friends who use Nikon as well, and hear it is good. I don’t know anything about the Pentax…
I chose the Canon, because I had the Canon Rebel 35mm and wanted to use the lenses interchangeably

I’m watching the Patriots kick the crap out of the Dolphins! Good times.
You sure are talented at your hobby. I think doing professional photography would be so stressful! Other people’s pictures … too much pressure. I love it as well, in an amateur way!

Susannah was baptized today, then we had a crepe party to celebrate… yahoo!!
I love your pictures!

great pics!

Thanks for answering my comment! I forgot to mention that I hadn’t ruled out the Canon Rebel either. So many choices. I might just end up with the Pentax for the same reason you went with the Canon – already having the lenses. Thanks again!

Fall is my all-time favorite season. I can’t help but smile every time I see a tree laden in gold and orange. And haystack mazes! Wee!

Gorgeous photos!
I spent the weekend visiting my parents, and celebrating a belated Thanksgiving, as they were on vacation over the actual holiday. I helped my mom make the turkey dinner, and it was fantastic! I love good home cooked food. We had a nice and relaxing time together.

I spent my sunday at our annual company picnic where it was a nice warm 85+ degrees and where I got a NICE sunburn to boot! So can’t say that I feel your pain yet! Houston, TX just loves the heat!
