Fallin’

This weekend I am doing an engagement photo session for a reader of mine (Hi Leneigh!)

We are planning to do the session at the Ornamental Gardens. You may remember me posting about the Gardens back in June when I took the kids there to case the joint for a wedding I was shooting. I have not been up there since June so I thought we should go and see what the Gardens looked like in the fall.

I have been pretty swamped with work and such the past few weeks.  I thought an afternoon out in the fresh air, with my camera, would be good for my spirit.

It was.

Look! Leaves!

Also! Blue Sky! The sun was so warm while driving the van that I left my jacket in the vehicle while we explored. I was totally warm (In the sunlight)(While doing jumping jacks)(But not queefing (You need to read that entire exchange. A day later and I am still giggling to myself.))

The gardens were full of flowers. That were ALIVE.

Will wonders never cease?

We set off to explore the trails.

She really does rock the sweaters.

I thought I should get a group shot. Notice the CHEESE face. I even had them say monkey. It appears my photo tips do not work. Don’t listen to me anymore. It’s for your own good.

The expressions look remarkably similar to the ones I posted this past week.

I had a brain wave. Hey boys! Give Emily a kiss on the cheek!

Holy love-fest, Batman.

I like this one.

And this one too.

Graham! Did you get it all?

We went looking for more trails and flowers.

Someone was excited.

We found flowers.

More pretty leaves.

Roses.

Emily found something that she wanted to show me.

A pink petal.

She loves pink.  It is growing on me, but I still love red and blue the best.

With the flowers still blooming and the sun (somewhat) warm on my skin I could see what people like about fall.  Summer is still my favourite season (I miss you! Come back!) but maybe fall is not as bad as I have made it out to be.

Until it snows. Then I will be all, CURSE YOU FALL! Will you never end? And winter is coming?  WHY DO I LIVE IN CANADA???

Oh, right. Because it is the best country on the planet.

Back to the Gardens.

It was time for us to head home and make supper.

That photo was not posed at all.  Nope. They regularly walk together, holding hands, while singing “You Are My Sunshine” in three part harmony.

Really.

When we were little and we’d rub our faces after my mom gave us a kiss, she’d say, “Oh, you’re rubbing my kiss in so it’ll last longer, thanks!”

Those fall colors are making me want to come to B.C. pronto.

We have an outing planned for a place about an hour south of here on Friday when the girls have no school. Hoping to find gorgeous colors like those and cooperative children (and hubby) thanks for sharing! Beautiful as always.

I would love to have a print of the 5th to last one with the leaves. SO beautiful. Etsy?

Every time I see a photo of Emily I am amazed at how much she looks like her father. Pure Matthew that one.

Awesome pictures - sadly in Alberta fall doesn’t last too long except this year - we had a late heat wave and our trees still have leaves!

PS I was up at the gardens last week and the field was covered in bear poo. Tell the bride to watch her step!

If that 3-part harmony thing is real - then I want to hear it!!! You have to record it and post it!!! That is a beautiful last shot you got…I love those Canon moments, (as opposed to Kodak incase you didn’t figure it out)! The Ornemental Gardens look absolutely beautiful. You got some great shots!

We have snow. For real. Abby wore her snow suit yesterday and played outside for a long time, attempting to make snow balls and testing out her new boots.

Great shots of the kids and the fall foilage!

Aaaaaw so cute. My favorite is the one of Emily’s face as she’s showing you her pink petal. She is so excited and she wants nothing more than to share that with her mommy. Delightful!

My second post (wild woman I am!), as with your Boys Will Be Boys, I truly appreciated your Sticks and Stones, but really it was the bench in one of your pictures that made me post.
You’re in Summerland?! Small world, a very dear (and currently long, lost) friend of mine…his parents live there (moved from Maple Ridge). The connections to people I really don’t know sometimes boggle my mind.
BTW, when are you going to put that lovely flower picture (asters?) in your Esty shop, it is fabulous!
take care.

You Are My Sunshine is my all time favorite song, ever. I sing it to my girl every night at bedtime. She asks for it. I love it. Your photos of the kids are wonderful, simply wonderful. I too have found when the kids are stuck and I can’t get a good picture I ask them to do something. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Usually fun - wink.
