The boys need some Internet time to compensate for the Emily extravaganza. Here’s a story I’ve been telling everyone this past week…
Matthew took the boys for a quad ride after supper last Tuesday night. Upon their return, Nathan ran in and said, “Mommy! Cow!”
They often see cows, deer, etc. on their excursions. Graham came in and I asked him if he saw a cow.
“Yeah…but it’s neck was all gone.”
“It’s neck was gone?”
“Yeah. It was dead.”
“Oh no!”
Then he gets this concerned look on his face and says:
“It was not good.”
Matthew explained that they came across a cow that had been munched upon. The neck was gouged out and the legs were chewed off and strewn about.
Nothing like a dismembered cow to teach your kids about the circle of life.

Emily is still, well, perfect. I may be biased on that one. At least a little bit.
She had a check-up yesterday and the doctor said that she was perfect as well. That makes two of us who think so. Actually three, as Daddy has her sleeping on his chest right now and he’s pretty enamoured.
She was already back up to 7/15, and we have another check-up on Friday. At the rate she’s going, she’ll be back at her birth weight in no time.
I had to take her to the lab today to get her PKU test done as we left the hospital before she was 24 hours old. Nothing like someone pricking your foot and squeezing out blood to make you cry. Poor girl. I know it’s necessary, but it breaks my heart. Not looking forward to the immunizations. Bleh!
She’s still very content, and barely makes a peep. She also likes to sleep on her side. I put her on her back and she immediately rolls onto her side. Part of her squirmy nature, I guess. She sure wasn’t immobile in the womb, so why stop now?
Here’s a picture to appease you baby lovers out there:

She’s so cute, I love the little philosopher look that newborns have! yay for gaining weight so beautifully

We had to go back for the PKU thing too and they had to prick her twice and squeeze her little foot for 15 whole minutes to get enough blood! It was good I had Belle there to distract me and Nick talked to Brooklyn. She didn’t cry much but she did not stay still at all! She’s a crazy squirmer.

What a great story about the cow!! I’m sure exposing your boys to all those things will help their understanding of life, mortality and dying. Can’t be a bad thing
Emily is still perfect in my opinion, too. From what I can see in the photo! I posted off my “surprise” today so hopefully you’ll be getting it in about a week’s time! So keep a lookout in your mailbox for a red & white package from NZ

Wow, the cow doesn’t sound like a pretty sight… nature is cruel sometimes. But beautiful little girls like yours more than make up for it

Glad to hear that things are going so well with the angel baby girl!! I still can’t imagine how much fun it must be to add pink to a house of blue. Have you gone crazy with girlie clothes already, or painted her room mauve?? Also good to hear the boys are doing well and having fun exploring the back woods with daddy…ewww.

Thanks for the picture. That’s all I’m interested in these days.

I love Graham! He made me sad today when he wouldn’t let me go! Our visit was too short, but I’m glad we got to have it!

I’m happy that the all of your boys are doing well, and that you girls are, too! Great picture! I am STILL having trouble keeping up blogging with all the daily activities…

Now, that’s a boy story!
Emily sounds like a mover & a shaker already; she’s just prepping to keep up with her brothers in the future! What a beauty she is!

Sooo cute!
I love the story about the cow. Zachary learned about the story of life when we picked up our “cow” from the slaughterhouse

Sweet, gorgeous…absolutely adorable!

you called yourself a cow? LoL. you got self-humor dont ya? I’m been a standup comedian in the blog. But you crack me up. Besides, cows are cute, approachable animals and they are big by nature. Sometimes, I feel like laughing on things about myself. Huh…one of you is named Leah, my Mom’s name, while Dad’s name is Jean Luc and my bro’s name is Mark. Ok I’m out.+
