Hi everyone,
Emily here. It’s been a long time since I last did a post but I thought I would take over today and help Mommy out. She’s been oozing a lot of gushiness lately and she told me that if she had to hear herself spew any more sappy sentiments she just might vomit in her mouth a little.
I asked her what to do for a post and she suggested that I do a list of “things about me”. They seem to be all of the rage in the Internet right now. Plus, Mommy is a big fan of lists, and since I look so much like her I must be a fan too, right? Unless I take after Daddy. He thinks lists are overrated. Silly man.
Here goes:
1. I have started making this scrunchy smiley face. Both of my brothers did it at around the same age. Here’s a sampling:
Mommy’s not sure if ALL babies do this, or if it’s just our kooky family. It won’t get me any baby modeling gigs but she thinks it’s pretty funny.
2. I am not crawling but I’m not immobile, either. I haven’t had much tummy time now that I can sit unassisted. Mommy thought that the lack of tummy time might just keep me stationary for a little while longer. She was wrong! I bend over and use my hands to push and pull myself where I want to go. I believe the term is “scooching”. It works for now, but you never know – I might give the crawling thing a try.
3. I am a thumb sucker. I don’t suck it all of the time, but I pop it in if I’m tired or hungry. Or if I just need a little self-comfort.
Besides, everyone thinks I look cute when I do it, and a girl always likes to hear that she’s cute.
4. I have started giving “kisses” to Daddy and Mommy. I lean in, mouth wide open, and slobber all over their faces. I could probably pucker up, but this way is much more fun. My brothers have taught me their mantra that “messier is better”.
5. I finally opened my Christmas present from Grandma and Grandpa. I was happy to play with my brothers’ toys but Mommy thought that all of the cars and superheroes needed some Disney Princesses to keep them company. Daddy muttered something about “more plastic crap to clean up”, but he agreed that I needed toys of my own.
Look at how happy I am! Part of it is due to the toys…and part of it is due to the fact that I have Daddy wrapped around my chubby little finger. He’s the best Daddy ever.
6. I’m not a cuddler. Nope. Mommy refers to me as “Miss Independent” and Daddy likes to remind her that she’s not a huge cuddler either. Besides, I have my thumb. I can soothe myself, thank you very much.
7. I love to clap! If Mommy or Daddy say “yay!” I will clap for them. Mommy pulled out the camera to catch it on tape:
Click here if you can’t see it.
I’ve started clapping when I hear applause on TV too. Clapping is so much fun! Yay!
Well, I’m about done. I don’t feel like typing anymore, and I think Mommy is going through laptop withdrawal. What’s that? Oh. Mommy wanted me to write in that she loves me very much.
Love you too, Mommy.

Emily is such a talented genius! 8 months and already blogging. By a year she will be working on her college degree.

Hard to believe she’s 8 months already! She’s growing up so fast!

It is truly amazing how fast she is growing up and into such a beautiful girl. I can just see her in a few years with your beautiful curly hair and those stunning eyes. They do grow up too fast. Ava has already outgrown her newborn diapers. Yikes.

Man, she’s getting cuter all the time! (Who knew it was possible!)
