Earplugs not included.

I feel the need to apologize because instead of this Guest Post Extravaganza! ending on a high note, it is going to end with me. And trust me this isn’t a case of ‘save the best for last’ instead it is a case of boy howdy, I am lazy so I should get the last possible day available. Procrastination and indolence trumps most everything. I have a name it is Heather B. or HB if you are so inclined. I have a blog as well titled No Pasa Nada. I’d tell you what it means but I’m terribly cruel so you’ll just have to guess.

Angella and I ‘met’ last summer when my BlogHer roommate couldn’t attend and I was left to fend for myself. We – Angella and I – were to be roommates but then real life kicked in and the Universe was having none of that so Angella didn’t attend and I wept. Other than that we didn’t really ‘know’ each other but everyone I knew loved her and because I am a lemming, I loved her as well. Then again, who doesn’t adore Angella? Because if you don’t then clearly your synapses are misfiring. That would be like not loving puppies or rainbows. She’s pretty much everything one could ever want in a friend; sweet, funny, always helpful no matter what the case, an amazing photographer and did I mention sweet?

I know, it sounds like I’m sucking up which I might be since Angella and I are going to be roommates this summer for several days. And I’m trying to make a good impression you know? I’m trying to sell myself as a completely lovely and competent 20 something that doesn’t snore or talk loudly and believes that wine should be sipped. I have this inane fear of people not liking me upon first meeting and while I believe that Angella and I will be BFFE!1!!!1 the second we lay eyes on each other that does not make me any less nervous nor does it discount the fact that I am a snorer.

This is totally not where I was going to go with this but since we are already here, I am now realizing that I’ve been fairly open on my site but have declined to mention that at one time I had a reputation for sounding like a chainsaw while I slumbered. That was as a wee HB and nine year olds can be so very cruel. It has since kind of stopped – from what I understand – and now just sounds like a light whirring and only when I first fall asleep. Which is much better than sounding like I’m grinding into a redwood. It’s one of those things I fail to ever mention because a) Very rarely is it heard, b) It isn’t a medical condition. I can’t die from it but that doesn’t mean that I people haven’t threatened to choke me because of it and c) It doesn’t bother me. So why do I suddenly care? Probably because I am forever an insecure 12 year old attending summer camp in Upstate, NY (close enough to Canada to get smarties but not close enough to see the RCMP) and fearing (sorry: FEARING) falling asleep because girls can be cruel. It’s not even a ‘cute quirk’ that people just get past. It is one of those things that’s unfortunately genetic and probably permanent and I keep having these visions of waking up in the morning with Angella staring at me thinking about serving my head upon a silver platter because I kept her up with my breathing.

But like I said, it really isn’t that bad and I’m just psychotic and neurotic. Also Angella is nice and sweet and not an evil 13 year old. I am just being silly with my worrying even though I have a feeling that we are going to have the best time together. She’ll teach me how to use my 50mm (f/1.4) properly on a subject other than my cat and I’ll teach her how to appreciate a really good dry red in the summer. See? Everyone’s a winner.

Though if you happen to see a bouncing and well rested 24 year old (me) and a gorgeous but bleary eyed woman giving me the death glare from across the room, things did not go so well. So be gentle and don’t forget to say hi.

I hope you can show me how to appreciate a dry red in the summer.

OOOOK! i totally had the same fear.
and 12 year old girls can be mean. i remember once at camp, waking up to find some evil girl walloping me in the head with a pillow. i definitely woke up with a headache.
so . . .i feel for you :)
but at the same time i reiterate the part of “do i suddenly care all the sudden?” sure - i feel bad that it bothers other people . . . but i get a good sleep and feel pretty happy :)

I don’t know if I snore. It’s one of the great perks of being a spinster with cats. I think I only tend to when I’ve been drinking. Which means at BlogHer, I’d definitely be snoring.

I am one of the loudest snore-ers you will ever meet. Okay, maybe not, but my brother used to say that I sounded like a train in the middle of the night. Our bedrooms were right next to each other growing up, and the walls were pretty thin, so that statement could be exaggerated. Still, I have had to share a room with people before, and all of them have commented (nicely, of course) how loud I am when I sleep.

I feel very sorry for whomever I end up marrying. He’d better be a quiet sleeper (I’m a very light sleeper, and cannot sleep when there’s any kind of noise), and be able to put up with my chainsaw-like noises. Hee!

Well, you can always bring Angella a roomie gift of a large bottle of wine and earplugs. Get her drunk and then she’ll stuff the earplugs in and defend your non-snoriness til her dyin’ day.

I’m sure Angella will accept you, snoring and all! It sounds like you guys will have a great time!

Dude. I sleep with earplugs every. single. night. This would be due to the BLASTED ROOSTERS we have.

If you can get me to like red wine, it will be a miracle - I am usually a fan of the white.

:)

Regardless, rooming with you is going to be all sorts of fun. I was sure of that fact before this post where you spouted such wonderful things about me. Except now I fear that I won’t live up to the hype.

;)

Hi HB! Great guest post :)

When I was a kid, I used to snore like a banshee—however, this is only one of the reasons for why I would not have made a good camp roommate….well, that, and the chronic bed-wetting didn’t help either.

Now? I no longer snore, I haven’t wet the bed in at least five years, and I always bring good booze. Let the good times roll.
