Coming Up For Air

Hey dudes. This working thing? Pretty CRAZY.

Yeah…my guesstimate of forty hours a week? Um, a little conservative. More like fifty. Or more.

I’ve put in about ten hours today and I’m not done yet. Why am I here posting? Because I need to vent. I am slowly going crazy 1234567…slowly crazy I am going 7654321.

It could be worse. I could be working in an office somewhere and not having cuddles and meals and battles (yes – battles) with my kids. I have a whole new respect for those who work full-time away from home. How do you get anything done? I couldn’t do it.

As part of this online course, the students get to go to a three-day “face-to-face” session. It runs this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Guess who’s teaching the one in this area? Me. Guess who has to leave tomorrow night because I’m teaching in a city two hours away and am staying in a hotel? Me. Guess who’s freaking out about all I need to get done in the next TWENTY-FOUR HOURS??? Yep. Me.

Apart from the whole workload, there’s the fact that I’ll be away from the family. I’m still nursing Emily. She (thankfully) takes a bottle, and we all know that Daddy’s her favourite, so she’ll be just dandy. So will the boys. They’re all going to have a blast.

I, however, will be all alone in a hotel room every night. I’ll be missing the dudes and the girl horribly. I’ll be pumping breast milk while crying into my Diet Coke. Good times, good times.

I’m hoping that once the weekend is over I’ll be able to breathe a little and maybe even get out of the house. It could happen. And monkeys could fly out of my butt.

On a brighter note, the weather’s been fantastic. I put Miss Emily in one of the summer outfits she was given when she arrived into this world. She got a ton of cute stuff, but she’ll be too big for it before we know it. Ah, babyhood. The one time of a girl’s life when bigger is better.

Emily!

She’s starting to pull hats off of her head. This is a problem due to her complete baldness.

1. Because I don’t want the sun to burn her head and

2. Because her baldness distracts from her cuteness, and we can’t have that, now can we?

Hope y’all are well. I’m not ignoring you. Just trying to keep up with things like showering and maybe even sleeping. Peace out.

  2. You’ll be fine – it is only 3 days! I did 12 days and I was crying into my coke too. But knowing they are home with their favourite parent (your words, not mine!) should help somewhat. Right? Just think of the money. Or something. Oh, and Emily is cute in that outfit! :-)

  7. Aw, Ange! Sounds like a rough go, trying to cram so much work into life. If anyone can make it through the remaining 9 weeks of heck, ’tis you. Hope I get to see you sometime. Whenever you need a little break from the chaos, just give me a call! Love ya!

  10. Enjoy the working stuff so that you can enjoy the home time even more. Two hours away, where are you going? If you’re coming my way I will have you over for a home-cooked dinner if you are interested, whatever hour works for you, too. I love bald babies… probably going to have another one.

  13. Awe, keep your chin up while you’re away. And you’re right, the kids will be just fine. Like you, I’m the one who is all mopey and weepy when I have to leave the girls. Meanwhile, they’re super happy to be with daddy or the grandparents. Poor mom!
