Can you believe it? I haven’t posted in over (Gasp!) forty-eight hours. This weekend I decided to take Kerflop’s advice (see badge on my side-bar) and “Enjoy Life”. To do so I (Gasp!) closed my laptop for long periods of time and, um, had a bit of a life. I also got stuff done.

It felt good. I may have to that more often.

One of the lessons I learned this weekend is that it’s OK to let go of the reigns every so often. It my haste to control everything get everything done quickly help my kids, I often just do things for them instead of letting them do it themselves.

Graham has been wanting to help more lately. He has been my “helper” at meal times. He has been setting the table, and wanting to help in meal prep. At lunch time, he will usually bring me everything I need to make lunch for everyone. On Sunday, he asked if he could make his own sandwich. I let him. And he was mighty proud of himself.

Nano, Nano (and Mac vs. PC)

Thanks for the questions, everyone! I’ll start working on my answers here soon, so check back in a week. Or five.

Yesterday was a busy day, filled with a billion pictures. Post to follow later, unless the virus that has attacked my children and husband finally breaks through my barrier of Vitamin C. For now, I’m just really tired. But that’s nothing new, now is it?

One set of photos from yesterday contains something I am very excited about. Matthew and I put all of our household purchases on Mastercard to collect Airmiles and then use them to purchase merchandise. Remember when we redeemed the Airmiles to get the boys quads for Christmas?

Do you also remember when I told you that I had downloaded itunes and you all gave me suggestions for music to download?

Well, I have been a downloading machine. I have been loving music again lately (something to listen to while I am editing photos) and it seemed only fitting that I use the Airmiles for something I could really use. I batted my eyelashes at Honey and he let me redeem the miles for this:

It’s so TINY!

Don’t believe me? I’ll show you a shot of it next to something to give it perspective.

Our Vacuum Really Does Suck!

About a year ago Old Faithful (our Electrolux vacuum) started to show signs of aging. Kind of like I have been showing those same signs lately; I can relate. If only duct tape would have the same effect on my post-nursing chest. I may have to try it when Emily’s done.

I did a silly post about the vacuum when it first started to fall apart, and then included it in a meme a while back. Why am I now rhyming along with that Woodchuck rhyme…”How much crap could a vacuum suck, if a vacuum could just suck?”

We were still relying on the duct tape until a few days ago. Duct tape is amazing, but can only take you so far. Mental note taken.

We researched, we talked to people, and we came to a conclusion. We would go with the Dyson. Here she is:

Dyson

It was not cheap. As you all know, I am married to a Dutch man. This means that he is miserly cheap frugal. I don’t like to waste money either, but I am all for buying quality over quantity.

Lucky for me, Honey’s penchant for cleaning is bigger than his need to pinch pennies. When we moved in here, we had some sweet lino that had dirt ground into every little groove. Honey got on his hands and knees with a scrub brush and got every last bit of dirt out. Not me. I was probably watching him while drinking a Diet Coke. I’d make a great foreman.

I picked up his new toy this morning and he put it together at lunch. And it SUCKS! It sucks VERY WELL! He’s so excited that he can’t wait until after work so he can test out all of the attachments. I asked him where we should keep it, and he suggested in the middle of the coffee table.

Some women buy lingerie to make their husband happy. I just buy mine cleaning supplies. Whatever floats your boat.
