I promised I would post more photos from Sunday, and would have done so sooner had I not taken on a work project for the week that IS TURNING MY BRAIN INTO A BIG STEAMING PILE OF POO.
Ahem.
I could (and would) wax poetic about The Girls, except then I start emoting all over the place. It can get quite messy, and somebody would have to clean it up. That “somebody” would most likely be Honey, but still. The dude cleans up after me enough as it is.
I’ll keep it simple and non-messy like.
When we moved here I had…no friends. Zip, zilch, NADA.
Fast forward seven years and I have more friends that we can fit into two minivans. We manage to get together is small clusters about once a week (With the kids, which means conversation is limited at best. “What was I saying again?” is a common question we ask each other). It is hard to get the whole lot of us together what with the husbands, and the kids, and the work, and the LIFE we all have going on.
However.
If it a special occasion such as a birthday or a going away party, we all do our darndest to BE THERE.
Sunday was no exception. A few girls could not make it because we live in the The Vacation Capital of Western Canada. This means that friends and family tend to arrive (AND NEVER LEAVE) all throughout the summer. Considering all of this, we had a good turnout.
That would be fourteen ladies, to save you from counting.
We laugh together. We cry together. We talk about farts, and poop, and boobs (or lack thereof)(*waves*). One of my closest girls does not have the same boob issues I do.
We generally just have a great time. While looking HAWT.
Yes, Karen and Tianna were blinded by the sun. No, I did not ask them to move. Tianna is eight months pregnant. If she’s smiling, who am I to tip the apple cart?

My girls. They funny.
All fourteen of these women are married.
Eleven of us have children, most of us more than one.
We spend our days trying not to go crazy while wiping bums, changing diapers, cleaning up baby puke, the whole lot.
But when the occasion calls for it, we turn back to being US. Not a Mom, not a Wife, just a Girl. We wipe the sludge off, get gussied up, and head out on the town. Us Old Wives clean up real nice.
At least that’s what we tell ourselves.
Y’all are all adorable. What a blessing to have each other.

Gosh, I miss having a group of friends like that to hang out with. I still have a group, we’re all spread out though. But I’m working on it!!
I may have nearly accosted a woman in the grocery store the other day… Turns out she’s new to this base too and we exchanged numbers.
The rules change as we get older, don’t they. And it’s not so easy as sharing your bike or some skittles and instantly making a best friend – like when I was little.
Those pictures are true treasures – and so are the friends.
I’ll be joining the ranks of the non-boob party here in about 6 months. Whoo-hoo! Or, perhaps not.

What a blessing to have such great friends! I’m in the zip zilch nada stage at the moment. I’m enjoying it for now, since I don’t have time for friends at the moment anyway, but I’m sure in a couple weeks it’s really going to bother me.
